3 MESSAGE FROM THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Speaker reported a message from the Legislative Council dated 5 April 2017, returning the Transport Administration Amendment (Transport Entities) Bill, without amendment.

11 SES ASSISTANCE TO NORTH COAST FLOOD VICTIMS

Mr moved, pursuant to notice, That this House:

(1) Congratulates the State Emergency Service volunteers, and all other volunteers and emergency services personnel, for providing assistance to victims of the North Coast floods.

(2) Offers condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their life as a result of the North Coast Floods.

(3) Supports efforts to help Northern New South Wales recover from the floods and notes the appointment of Mr Euan Ferguson as the Recovery Coordinator.

(4) Commends and thanks the members who volunteer their time, effort and skill, and who show such bravery in times of crisis, for the benefit of others.

12 CAMDEN POLICE LOCAL AREA COMMAND

The order of the day was read for the resumption of the interrupted debate, on the motion of Mr Jai Rowell, That this House:

(1) Acknowledges the great work that Police do day to day to protect the community.

(2) Notes that the Camden Local Area Command has increased in population by approximately 1169 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY Thursday 6 April 2017

12,000 people in recent times.

(3) Notes that with the population growth projected in Wollondilly and Camden over the next ten years there will be increased workloads placed on the Camden Local Area Command.

(4) Notes that Camden Local Area Command is already doing more work now compared to similar sized commands.

(5) Requests that all options be examined with the view to strengthening police numbers at Camden Local Area Command.

13 GREYHOUND RACING

Ms moved, pursuant to notice, That this House:

(1) Notes Government advertisements claiming that greyhound racing is legal in only 8 countries.

(2) Notes that information provided to Budget Estimates Committees shows that greyhound racing is conducted in 21 countries.

(3) Calls on the Deputy Premier to be transparent and provide accurate information to the community about the details of the global and local greyhound industry.

The Speaker made a statement in relation to the forthcoming resignation of Ms Rachel Simpson, Director, Table and Chamber Services from the Department of the Legislative Assembly.

16 PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES

The Speaker, in accordance with standing order 282 (2), advised the House that:

(1) On 5 April 2017:

(a) Katrina Ann Hodgkinson was elected Chair of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Investment, Industry and Regional Development.

(b) Mark Owen Taylor was elected Chair and Michael John Johnsen was elected Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Privilege and Ethics.

(c) Kevin Francis Conolly was elected Chair and Bruce Neville Notley-Smith was elected Deputy Chair of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Community Services.

(2) On 6 April 2017, Adam Sibery Crouch was elected Chair and Mark Owen Taylor was elected Deputy Chair of the Committee on the Health Care Complaints Commission.

17 PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIES

Mr , on behalf of Ms Gladys Berejiklian, informed the House that:

(1) On 9 March 2017, the Honourable Catherine Eileen Cusack MLC resigned as Parliamentary Secretary for Education and the Hunter.

(2) On 24 March 2017:

(a) Gareth James Ward ceased to be Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast and was then appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Education and the Illawarra and South Coast.

(b) Scot MacDonald MLC ceased to be Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Central Coast and was then appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, the Central Coast and the Hunter.
