F.:IC!C!Bok Aberdeen Win the Edinburgh to Glasgow at the Heart of Sport ' DECEMBER 1988 ISSUE 28 £1 .00 Our new ruru1ing shoe is designed to be a winner. It's called the P.B. and its actually two shoes rolled into one. For starters, the P.B. is a racing shoe. And as you'd expect from a good racing shoe, it won't weigh you down. For example, the PB. has a sole thats made from an exceptionally light, flexible and hard wearing material called Goodyear J ndy 500 rubber. Th.is helps it tip the scales at only 200 grams and it'll help you get around the course a bit faster. But what makes the P.B. miles better than most racing shoes is that you can actually train in it as well. 1t bas a dual density m.idsole which will cushion your feet and allow you to do any number of sessions. lt also bas a sturdy heel counter wb.ich will support your foot on every run. But there's another reason why you should make tracks for the P.B. Its also an extremely co111fortable shoe to wear. The upper is made from nappa pigskin and polypag nylon. So its very light and supple, and it'll mould around the natural shape of your foot. What's more, its also cut .,c,r low around the heel so it wont irritate your achilles tendon. '"" You can try on the P.B. at any good sports shop. But you'll have to be quick. Because when a shoe's this good, theres bound to be a run on it. • A (Very Personal) History of Barnet and District AC
A (very personal) history of Barnet and District AC In early 2017 the club magazine Editor wrote to me, saying: “I'd like there to be some things in the next issue relating to the club's 50 anniversary/history etc. Would you be able/willing to contribute something?” Without hesitation I said yes, and here it is. I have chosen to write three parallel intertwined stories. They are the main points in the development of the club in the early years, illustrated with some results and reports from those days from the relevant club magazines, and interspersed with some observations on my own short running career once I arrived on the scene (thankfully for you that was not until 1982!). There are thousands of results and reports, and I have tried to select items of interest and/or relevance. I have tried to not dwell on, or comment too often on, the ‘but things were different/better in them days’ aspect of athletics. I leave you to interpret the content as you wish. Considerable license has been taken in editing down mag reports to their core detail. STEVE CHILTON (with thanks to Brian Fowler and all the club magazine editors) 1 Early days Barnet and District AC was formed in 1967, after a merger of Hampstead Harriers with Barnet AC. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find copies of the club mags from the years before 1974, so the first 6 years are something of a mystery (I copied all Brian Strong’s club mags from 1973 onwards a while ago, at the time I was editor, as he was editor for many of the early years).

Queensferry High School a) Deputation by Kirkliston Community Council and Kirkliston Primary School PTA The deputation felt that the current school provision at Queensferry High was not fit for purpose. They expressed concerns that the feasibility study had not been thorough enough and that the projected increase in numbers of children who would attend the new school had been understated. The deputation stated that it was imperative that the new school should be in place by 2023. They asked the Council to note their concerns that the proposal for the new build was not included in the Second Local Development Plan, an actual site location for the proposed development had not been identified and there was no funding secured for the project.
