Senior Academy Certificate OCTOBER 2019 – MARCH 2020 SENIORS FOR SENIOR SMART NATION ACADEMY • CERTIFICATE GOLDEN HOBBYIST PART OF SKILLSFUTURE@PA 2 ABOUT PA SENIOR ACADEMY The People’s Association (PA) launched the ‘PA Senior Academy’ on 17 February 2015 with its key mission to encourage more seniors, 50 years old and above, to pursue lifelong learning aspirations and lead an active lifestyle by providing accessible and affordable senior-friendly curriculum/programme. This year, the PA Senior Academy will offer a new ‘Senior Academy Certificate’ course programme – a credit-based graduation system, whereby seniors who have completed at least 10 different courses within 12 months will be able to fulfil their dreams of wearing a graduation gown, and putting on a mortar board to receive their certificates at the graduation ceremony. Taught by passionate PA trainers and partners, the wide array of courses offered are specially customised for seniors to be Smart Nation ready and to enhance their quality of life! Embark on a lifelong learning journey with the PA Senior Academy over fun and friendship! COURSE FEES & OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION $10 (PAssion Card Member)/ $20 (PAssion Card Member)/ $20 (Non-PAssion Card Member) $30 (Non-PAssion Card Member) for Singaporeans/PRs aged 50 and above for Singaporeans/PRs aged 49 and below (according to year of birth) (according to year of birth) SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) claims for SF@PA courses are applicable to both onsite and online registrations at respective CCs or www.onePA.sg. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE 3 SENIOR ACADEMY CERTIFICATE WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SIGN UP? • Any Singaporean/PR, aged 50 years old & above (according to year of birth), is eligible to sign up for the Senior Academy Certificate programme. WHERE & HOW TO SIGN UP FOR COURSES? • Participants can register via www.onePA.sg or over the counter at any of the 20 Senior Academy Satellite Training Centres or Community Club/Centre (CCs). Refer to page 36 to 55 for the course schedules and listing. • Course fees start from $10 for PAssion Card members. Course fees or SkillsFuture credit claims must be made before the class starts to secure placement. • Interested participants can collect the Senior Academy Certificate Passport from the trainer during their first class, or from the organising CCs after they sign up for their first class. HOW TO GRADUATE WITH A SENIOR ACADEMY CERTIFICATE? • To be eligible for the Senior Academy Convocation, a participant must complete at least 10 different Senior Academy courses between 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020. • Upon completion of 10 courses, a participant would receive a Senior Academy Certificate (Basic). Upon completion of 15 courses, a participant would receive a Senior Academy Certificate (Advanced). • If a participant misses a class due to personal reasons, no make-up class is allowed. However, if the class is postponed due to trainer or CC’s request, participant can sign up for another class at the same CC, at no cost, subject to class size availability. WHEN SHOULD I RETURN THE SENIOR ACADEMY CERTIFICATE PASSPORT? • Please return the Senior Academy Certificate Passport to your nearest organising CC between 1 April 2020 to 30 April 2020. All eligible graduates will be informed of the Senior Academy Convocation details by 31 May 2020.
