Marshall head tennis coach John Mercer’s run at the school can be described as nothing short of remarkable. Mercer, now in his 17th MERCER BY THE NUMBERS season at the helm of the Thundering Herd, is the school’s all-time leader in wins with 251 and has posted a record of at least .500 in 15 of his first 16 seasons. 251 Mercer took Marshall to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first three seasons as head coach, also a first for the program, and Career wins, the most in school history. has coached 54 all-conference selections during his tenure, including 45 during Marshall’s current tenure in Conference USA.
