This report illustrates how the Santa Barbara HY Foundation is working to meet the needs of Santa Barbara County through comprehensive grantmaking and donor partnerships. Included herein are stories and statistics about ALL our grants made in 2012 – from our discretionary funds, from our restricted funds recommended by our donor investors, and from funds representing collective philanthropy groups. Reports and observations have noted that connecting parents and infants with support services provides a head start on this pathway. A strong community presence and collaboration around student needs continues to address academic and vocational preparedness, retention rates in high school, and higher education, while also emphasizing student achievement and higher levels of parent engagement. As the Santa Barbara Foundation continues to gather information, it is becoming more strategic in meeting the needs of children and their families.
