Jonas Brothers: the Remember This Tour Coming to the Mystic Amphitheater Sept FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JONAS BROTHERS: THE REMEMBER THIS TOUR COMING TO THE MYSTIC AMPHITHEATER SEPT. 11 Tickets on Sale May 27 PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – MAY 19, 2021 – Global superstar trio Jonas Brothers are back on the road after the smash success of their “Happiness Begins” tour in 2019 sold over 1.2 million tickets and grossed over $120 million dollars. This time the brothers are guaranteeing happiness is BACK and that fans are going to remember this with their 2021 “Remember This” tour. Leading up to the tour, the Jonas Brothers will kick off a partnership with NBCUniversal which is inspired by the themes and anticipation of the Tokyo Olympics featuring a unique activation surrounding the band’s upcoming single “Remember This.” The Jonas Brothers will debut the new song on the first night of the U.S. Track & Field Trials on Friday, June 18, between 10 and 11 p.m. ET on NBC, roughly one month before the Tokyo Olympics begin on July 23. “Remember This” will tell an Olympic-inspired story with athlete imagery and will feature a special message from the Jonas Brothers. In addition to the debut of the song, the Jonas Brothers will make their first-ever performance of “Remember This” within NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Games this summer. The in-Games version of the single will include new lyrics inspired by the Tokyo Olympics and Team USA. The partnership surrounding “Remember This” complements the premier of Olympic Dreams featuring the Jonas Brothers, which was announced earlier this week and will air two days before the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on July 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. About Jonas Brothers Jonas Brothers took the world by storm in 2019 with the surprise release of their critically acclaimed and widely successful single "Sucker" following a six-year hiatus. The triple-platinum single debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100, becoming the first No. 1 for the band and the first No. 1 debut from a group this century. The band went on to release Chasing Happiness, an Amazon Original film documenting the brothers rise and return to music, before going on to deliver their third No. 1 album debut with the release of their platinum-selling album Happiness Begins (Republic Records). The band continued to soar with their sold-out “Happiness Begins Tour,” with over 1.2 million tickets sold. What’s more, the album garnered the band a bevy of awards including three awards for “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Radio Songs Artist,” and “Top Radio Song” for “Sucker” at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, a 2019 MTV VMA for “Best Pop Video,” “Best Duo/Group” at the 2020 iHeart Music Awards, two Teen Choice Awards including their prestigious “Decade Award,” as well numerous American Music Award nominations, a coveted Grammy nomination and more. Most recently, the band released a new Amazon Original documentary entitled Happiness Continues which captured the band’s live concert experience. For more information, visit jonasbrothers.com. • Jonas Brothers: Happiness Begins
Jonas Brothers: Happiness Begins spectrumculture.com/2019/06/19/jonas-brothers-happiness-begins Daniel Bromfield June 19, 2019 As an album, Happiness Begins is nothing special, designed to float into Lyft-shuffle anonymity rather than stop us in our tracks. As a marketing strategy, it’s brilliant. Get the Jonas Brothers back together just as people are starting to remember they existed, and then slap their name on songs whose authorship doesn’t much matter as long as their ubiquity gets people humming them. These aren’t the same JoBros who slayed stadiums in the late 2000s. The rock-band angle is gone, guitars are absent unless they’re the acoustic ones that convey sensitivity, and the brothers don’t attack their songs with childish ecstasy but croon them smokily, letting us know that the purity rings are a thing of the past. Joe’s boast that he’s “winning like it’s ‘Game of Thrones’” is a lot funnier when you realize he’s married to Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark. So it doesn’t sound like the Jonas Brothers. What does it sound like? Every damn hit on the radio, down to the most alarming specifics. “Sucker” nicks its drum machines from Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” “Cool” does the same descending-chorus thing as Taylor Swift’s “Shake It 1/3 Off.” On “Every Single Time” Nick repeats a melisma identical to the one Adam Levine uses on Maroon 5’s creepy “Blurred Lines”-era embarrassment “Animals.” And “Love Her” kicks off its chorus with the same notes and almost the same words as Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself”; it’s no less mordant a song, though at least the protagonist is on the receiving rather than giving end of abuse.

  • Ana Salvatore Envision a Rainbow of Glittering Lights and 20000 Starry
Time for Them to Fly? Ana Salvatore Envision a rainbow of glittering lights and 20,000 starry-eyed pre-teen girls screaming at the top of their lungs. I attended a Jonas Brothers concert last August and the energy of fans was mind- boggling. Bombarded with this teeny-bop fanaticism, my mind revisited a time when boy bands sent my hormones reeling. My heart spun back to my first concert ten summers ago starring the oh-so-dreamy Backstreet Boys. I was ten, and Nick Carter was a few years older. Just a few. But he was beautiful. His beach-blonde hair had a tendency to look perfectly disheveled and his bright blue eyes had Cupid sending arrows through my heart. Among Nick’s many big-screen moments that night, there was one on-camera appearance that I remember vividly: singing “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and dancing with slight indecency, he had me love struck. The Backstreet Boys engendered in me the same magical and feverish obsession that defines Jonas Brothers fans. As is characteristic of boy band worship, fans live and breathe anything and everything that emanates J-O-N-A-S. But where do these obsessive-compulsive personalities come from? On the surface, girls are attracted to the brothers’ image as a band: drool-worthy good looks, a unique, punk-infused-prep style, and an energetic stage presence. Lured by these dazzling visuals, fans deem the trio rock n’ roll eye-candy. “They’re perfect, everything about them,” raves my fourteen year old sister. Encompassing this perceived perfection, however, is a much larger force of attraction: the two-dimensionality of it.

  • U.S. Music Mid-Year Report 2019
NIELSEN MUSIC MID-YEAR REPORT U.S. 2019 1 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the 2019 Nielsen Music Mid-Year Report, which provides an exclusive glimpse at the music industry’s leading trends, data and insights from the past six months. The first half of 2019 saw a six-month record of over 507 billion on-demand streams, an exciting new milestone led by singles and albums by Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Halsey, Khalid, BTS, Lil Nas X and Bad Bunny that span a wide array of genres, moods and even languages. LPs continue to show strength and lend resilience to physical albums, as independent retail events like Record Store Day continue to bring music fans in droves. This year’s celebration led to the highest non-holiday sales total at independent retail since 2005, and extended vinyl’s hot streak as the format increases 19% year-to-date. All data cited in this story is compiled by Nielsen Music. In this report, Nielsen is using a 24-week period for this year, running from Jan. 4 through June 20; while last year’s corresponding period ran THE FIRST HALF from Dec. 29, 2017, through June 14, 2018. Also, due to the fact that at mid-year 2018 Nielsen adapted different weighting for album OF 2019 SAW A consumption units for paid-audio streams (1,250 streams per unit), ad-supported streams and video streams (3,750 streams per unit), SIX-MONTH last year’s album consumption unit numbers were updated to reflect the current ratios for this story, in order to present an RECORD OF OVER apples-to-apples comparison.
