Bus Timetable for 2021/2022
School Bus Services and Travel Advice Wigan Schools Academic Year 2021/22 Page 1 Summary This booklet shows all home to school bus services as provided to schools within the Borough of Wigan. Other booklets are available for schools across the other 9 districts of Greater Manchester and these can be found at tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-school-bus-services. In addition to the services contained in this booklet, there is a network of general bus services which can also be used to get to and from school. Details of these can be found at tfgm.com/public-transport/bus/. Services shown in this booklet operate only on the school days of the schools that the services operate for and will not operate during school holidays or on days when students are not in attendance. Some buses are shared between schools and in these instances, buses will operate on days that all relevant schools are in attendance unless marked on the timetable. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CARERS - If you are using school bus information to choose your child’s school, please be aware that these services are subject to change and may be withdrawn due to low use and/or a suitable public transport alternative. Any alternative may involve a journey of up to 90 minutes, use the general service network and a change of bus on route may be required. The provision of direct school buses in the 2021/22 academic year does not indicate that these buses will be provided in future academic years and parents should consider carefully how their child may get to/from school if no school bus was provided. -
Bolton Schools 2020-2021
School Bus Services in Bolton September 2020 to July 2021 Journeys in this leaflet operate on schooldays only, unless otherwise stated. Although provided primarily for school students, members of the public may use these services with the exception of Yellow School Buses. Services are listed alphabetically under school names. An introduction to School buses and concessionary fares for students in Greater Manchester Passengers can pay a fare to the driver for each journey shown on this timetable. However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare and also offer daily return tickets. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator. On most services, students can also buy a weekly scholar’s ticket, which costs £7.60 These are ONLY valid on schooldays on school buses and are available from the bus driver on all services where they are applicable. To help the driver, please try to have the correct fare when buying your ticket. Carnet ticket (10 single trips) £10 – available to buy on the bus or at a TfGM Travel shop. A summary of fares and ticketing information on all school services included in this timetable can be found at https://www.tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-school-bus-services There are also a small number of TfGM funded services where the operator sets the fares. -

School Transport & Bus Timetables 2021-2022
School Transport & Bus Timetables 2021-2022 (Effective from Sept 2021) THE TIMETABLES INCLUDED IN THIS BOOKLET ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGES THAT ARE OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL'S CONTROL. SCHOOL BUS SERVICES A high proportion of our pupils have to travel by bus to school. School bus services are organised by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The school has no authority over most services provided and we work in partnership with the bus companies to ensure the safety and well-being of pupils using these services. For routes not designated a “school service”, pupils must use normal service buses and you will need to check times and available routes with the individual bus companies concerned. To assist with the monitoring of behaviour on the school service buses we usually rely on prefects. Unfortunately, due to the current COVID situation our normal School Bus Code of Conduct for pupils will be difficult to implement. All pupils will be responsible for their own behaviour and if others are causing a nuisance it should be reported immediately they arrive in school, initially to their form tutor who will decide if further action is required. Yellow School Buses This year there will be NO Yellow School Buses for St Edmund Arrowsmith. TfGM have increased capacity by providing double decker buses for routes similar to those run with the Yellow Buses. This will give pupils the flexibility to board any convenient service rather than be allocated a place according to where they live. It will be important to ensure an even spread of pupils across the buses to protect these routes moving forward. -

Questions Generated Through Group Discussions
Questions Generated Through Group discussions 1. How will we prioritise investment and coordination of community transport schemes (such as ring and ride)? The Ring & Ride and Local Link Services are funded by the transport levy TfGM receives from the 10 Greater Manchester local authorities. The prioritisation of community transport schemes and wider demand responsive services (such as Local Link and Ring & Ride) is therefore made in light of the ongoing budgetary pressures facing local government. There is a limited community transport sector in Greater Manchester, in part as Local Link and Ring & Ride provide many of the sort of trips that the community transport sector carries out in other areas. There is work underway to explore how DRT services (Local Link and Ring & Ride) can be better coordinated to prevent service duplication and make the most of the funds available. The Total Transport project will be looking at how to better coordinate transport options across sectors (health, local authority, community transport etc.) 2. How do we get a complimentary, localised, accessible, funded, door to door transport service? Ring & Ride is the focus for providing door-to-door transport provision for people who cannot use the regular bus, train and tram network due to personal mobility issues. Local Link is designed to provide kerb-to-kerb transport in areas where people cannot access buses because there is no bus network. Ring & Ride is funded entirely by TfGM (and fare revenue) through a grant. This grant is subject to the same budgetary constraints impacting on local authority budgets. 3. How can the design of transport be improved? This can include better information, bus stops, seating, exchanges, training.
