15 2015 CHARLESTON SOUTHERN FOOTBALL TROY GAME NOTES 2015 Charleston Southern Football ‘15 Recaps GAME 1 - Sept. 3 - Buccaneer Field (4,820) CHARLESTON SOUTHERN (0-1) 13 7 14 7 41 NORTH GREENVILLE (0-1) 0 7 7 0 14

• CSU improved to 3-0 in openers under Jamey Chadwell and 11-0 in Aug./Sept. under their third- year head coach. • The Bucs are now 12-1 all-time against North Greenville, their most wins against any single opponent. • RBs Ben Robinson (15-127) and Darius Hammond (9-114) both had career highs in rushing and became the first pair of Buccaneer running backs in two seasons to eclipse the 100-yard mark in the same game. CSU’s Malcolm Dixon (135) and Christian Reyes (105) were the last duo to do so (Campbell, 9/14/13). • Robinson had 11 carries for 116 yards and a TD in the first half as CSU built a 20-0 lead. All were career highs. • The announced crowd of over 4,000 is the sixth in the Chadwell era. The 2005 game against Coastal Carolina is the only non-Chadwell game in the top seven attended games in CSU history. • CSU scored TD’s on its first three offensive possessions to build a 20-0 lead. • Kyle Copeland was 2-for-2 engineering TD drives in his first action since the 2013 season. Co- peland redshirted last year. The Bucs ran the football 11 straight times, covering 70 yards, on the first TD drive. Five of the Bucs’ six plays on the ensuing 79-yard TD drive came on the ground as well. The big play of the drive, though, was a 35-yard third down pass from Copeland to sixth-year senior Nathan Perera. • CSU ran for over 200 yards for the 15th time in Jamey Chadwell’s tenure. The Bucs had just 13 such efforts in the eight years prior to his arrival. • Redshirt freshman LB Solomon Brown had a big collegiate debut, finishing with three of CSU’s eight tackles for loss, and two of the Bucs’ four sacks. Brown also forced a fumble. • Underclassmen Zane Cruz, Solomon Brown, Anthony Ellis and Bobby Ruff were four of CSU’s top five tacklers • Senior CB Malcolm Jackson was active with three pass breakups and a couple of near intercep- tions. • Redshirt soph. RaSean Ray earned his first career start at defensive tackle, and recovered a fumble. • Five CSU defenders made their first career starts: RaSean Ray, Zane Cruz, Larenzo Mathis, Shadarius Hopkins and Solomon Brown.
