3 4 5 Entries Close 12 noon on MONDAY 7th August IMPORTANT NOTES ADMISSION TICKETS - All persons over the age of 16 years wishing to enter the Showground must be in possession of a valid ticket or purchase one on the gate. Two complimentary tickets will be issued for the first horse/pony entered, one ticket will be issued for each subsequent horse/pony entered. Tickets are valid for one day only. Additional tickets can be ordered on the entry form at the advance ticket rate or at www.dorsetcountyshow.co.uk. Additional complimentary tickets will be issued for horses/ponies entered in the Private Driving, Foal classes and Coaching Marathon. Please note that children under 16 years of age are admitted free. STABLING - Limited on site stabling is available at £42 per box/night or £70 for 2 nights. It is available from 3pm Friday 1st September and must be vacated by 11am on Monday 4th September. Stables booked may be occupied from 5pm on the day booked until 4pm the following day. Straw bedding is provided free of charge but no feed/fodder will be provided. Stabling for entries in the Coaching Marathon, Scurry, Private Driving and Heavy Horses will be refunded if forward. EQUINE PASSPORTS - Exhibitors are reminded that horses/ponies should travel with their current equine passport. DEFRA officials will be on site and inspections may be made. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR - Any person riding a horse or pony (whether as a competitor or judge) anywhere on the showground must wear a hard hat of a standard approved by their appropriate governing body. Headgear must be worn with the chin strap correctly and securely fastened at all times. VETERINARY, FARRIER & FIRST AID - Vet in attendance Dorset Equine, Whitcombe Racing Stables, Whitcombe, Dorchester 01305 262295. Farrier in attendance Phillip Thomas, 07711 034064. Whitehorse Medical and an Honorary Doctor will be in attendance between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm each Show day.

6 British Show Pony Society This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in the BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the Rules of the BSPS, including the disciplinary procedures and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.

This show is a qualifier for the BSPS "Industrial Salt Supplies" WOW Factor, rule 519a.

2017 Qualification - This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed ponies in the Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Show Pony, Open Show Hunter Pony, Open Working Hunter Pony, Heritage Lead Rein, Heritage First Ridden, Heritage Ridden and Heritage Working classes.

This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Security Uk Ltd Challenge. The highest placed pony in the Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Show Pony, Open Show Hunter Pony, Open Working Hunter Pony, Heritage Lead Rein, Heritage First Ridden, Heritage Ridden and Heritage Working classes that has not qualified for the BSPS 2017 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already qualified for the BSPS Challenge, the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.

This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Black Country Best Rider of the Year BSPS Summer Championships 2017, the Best Rider in the Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Show Pony, Show Hunter Pony, Working Hunter Pony, Heritage Lead Rein and Heritage First Ridden and the Best Rider 25 years and under in the Heritage Ridden and Working classes will receive a Card and qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show.

NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider's/handler's possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner's membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in August 2018.

NPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern in August 2018. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show.

The British Show Horse Association Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Competitors and Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. DAY TICKETS - Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will not allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes . Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website. Horses competing in the Sport of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa . This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show 2018. The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will also award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open Cob (Light & Heavyweight) classes. These rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year.

SWA 2017 membership badges must be worn in the ring.

THE NATIVE BSPS CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN RIDDEN CLASSES

Ponies, Owners and Riders must be BSPS Members before the date of the Show to compete in the Olympia classes. Classes will be judged under BSPS rules as per the 2017 BSPS Rule & Show Handbook. Animals must be correct height for the breed as laid down in the individual breed standards.

The first and second prize winners from classes 120-125 will qualify for a Semi-Final to be held at THE BSPS HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW, at Arena U.K. The qualification will NOT pass down the line.

One judge may be appointed but the marking system must be used for the qualifying rounds . To be judged on a 50/50 marks system. 50 marks for Show/Freedom of Action; 50 Marks for Conformation/Breed Type.

These classes are also qualifiers for the BSPS "Classic Security UK Ltd" Challenge, the BSPS Premier League, the BSPS "Black Country Saddles" and BSPS "Industrial Salt Supplies" WOW Factor ("Winner of Winners").

Fences to be a minimum height of 0.85m (2'9") and maximum height of 1.00m (3'3"). To be run under SHB(GB) rules.

176 RIHS WORKING HUNTER, stallion, mare or gelding, four years old and over, exceeding 148cm. Riders to have attained their 16th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Grade A Show-jumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in these classes. Maximum height of fences to be 1.14cm (3'9"). To be judged 60% for jumping performance and 40% as for Hunter classes. No change of tack or rider permitted during the class. To be run under SHB(GB) rules.

HACKS, COBS & RIDING HORSES RIDDEN

Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Competitors & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration Numbers must be quoted on entry form.

DAY TICKETS - Non members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, In-Hand, Novice, Working and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.

The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show 2017.

All competing STALLIONS must be inspected or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and classified as RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2 OR Registered Irish Draught Sport Horse Stallion, and must display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tails. *All riders of STALLIONS must be 18 years of age or over. All ridden horses must be 153cm (15hh) or over.

26 This show is a Qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) £2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show in 2018 (date and venue to be confirmed). N.B. A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. Horses will be de-noviced after 3 novice wins or any open win, but is still eligible to compete at the RoR Aintree show that August. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August 2018. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and have RACED in GB . The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses will not be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show no longer than 1 1/2 minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for conformation. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse's last run in a race (NH/Flat) should entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard (in the current season or previous season). Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

201 THE RoR/TBA (THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION) RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE 2017 , mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years old or over on the 1st January. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries must be registered with RoR and HAVE raced in GB. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August 2018. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The class to be judged 50% jumping, 20% style while jumping and performance and 30% awarded for show, manners and suitability to be retrained. PHASE 1 - Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps (2' 6" to 3' with a maximum spread of 85cm). The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down, 15 points to be deducted for a refusal, 20 points for second refusal, elimination for third refusal or fall. PHASE 2 - Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge's discretion, horses might be asked to do a 'show' following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class). Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 1/2 minutes. Show to include the following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. 203 CLASSICAL LADIES SIDE SADDLE QUALIFIER, Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners & way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse & rider, by a SHBGB, BSHA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA Panel Judge. Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits; horses will not be stripped. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. Judges are requested to use the mark sheet provided. The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Special rosettes are offered by Mrs T. Mitchell to the winner and if the winner has already qualified, a second rosette is awarded with the Qualification Card. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Side Saddle Show or as soon as possible if qualified after that date to be eligible to compete at the Final. Combinations qualifying between one National Side Saddle Show and the next may carry forward the qualification, for that year only. The highest placed Riding Horse, Hack (not exceeding 160cm), Cob or Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over, ridden by a SSA Adult Member qualifies for the current year's BSHA Championship Show DMSL Phone Systems Ladies Show Horse Championship and if already qualified the ticket will go to the next highest placed horse down to 5th place. Combinations qualifying after the current year's BSHA Championship Show may carry forward the qualification, to the following year. SSA Members who qualify for The Ladies Show Horse Championship, will not be required to join the BSHA in order to compete in any Side Saddle class at the BSHA National Championship Show. If the BSHA Championship Show entries have closed at the time of qualifications, competitors will not be charged a late entry fee for the Championship.

204 SIDE SADDLE COSTUME CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE , The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony. Safe tack must be used. Detailed inspection of the rider's period costume is not required. Fancy dress is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Card. Competitors should produce a brief resume about their costumes for the Commentator. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above.

This Society is a member of the Association of Shows and Agricultural Organisations (ASAO), and endeavours to run its competitions in line with similar shows. Competitors are reminded to leave adequate time to enter and leave the Showground as traffic delays are possible. HORSE RULES 1. Local Rule - Horse/Pony must be the property of a resident living within Dorset. 2. Horse Numbers - One number will be issued per animal, which must be used for all classes 3. HSE and HARD HATS - British Standard hard hats must be worn complying with EN 1384, ASTMF 1163, PAS015 with Kite Marks or SEI marks. Protective head gear similar to the above which offers a higher level of protection is acceptable. Chin straps must be securely fastened at all times whilst mounted on the Showground 4. It is recommended that horses and ponies are not left unattended at any time whilst on the Showground. CAMPING RULES 4a. Livestock Attendants - The Society permits livestock attendants to "camp/sleep" in their vehicles in the livestock parking area 5. Camping Field - A separate camping field is provided adjoining the main showground where a charge of £30 is made per vehicle or tent 6. Gas & Cooking Arrangements - For fire safety reasons, gas cylinders should not be stored within your sleeping accommodation GENERAL COMPETITION RULES 7. Entries - All entries must be on an official entry form and signed by exhibitor, owner, agent or if under 16 years of age, the exhibitor & parent/guardian. All exhibits must be owned by the exhibitor at the time of making entries. This rule obviously is superseded where exhibits are required to be bred, made or produced by the exhibitor 8. Closing Dates - No entries will be accepted after the relevant closing date 9. Membership - Fully paid up Members are entitled to reduced entry fees in most classes. 10. Refunds - No refunds can be made for any entry after the relevant closing date 11. Accidents - The Society will not be responsible for any loss, illness, damage or accident that may occur to any animal or article exhibited at the Show. It is a condition of entry that the exhibitor shall hold the Society harmless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising from any such accident, loss or illness. All accidents must be reported to the Secretary's Office or Horse Steward's Tent 12. Prizes - As printed in the schedule except where the Judge or Section Chairman reserves the right to change for whatever reason. The Judge need not award a first prize 13. Objections - An exhibitor making an objection shall do so in writing to the Secretary before 4.00 p.m. (or at close of judging) on the relevant day of the Show, and shall deposit the sum of £25. The objector must be an exhibitor in the same class. The Appeals Committee will decide the outcome by 5.00 p.m. that day and in the event of an objection being held invalid the said sum of £25 shall be forfeited to the Society 14. Prize Money - This can be collected on Show Day. No prize money is given unless the relevant prize money card is handed in. No prize money is sent out, unless requested in writing with the relevant prize money card attached 15. Judging - No public will be allowed in the judging rings while judging is in progress. The Judges decision is final 16. Entry Tickets - Each person must give up an admission ticket when entering the Showground on Show days. Should exhibitors be entitled to exhibitor or vehicle passes these will be dispatched, along with horse numbers. The Society asks all exhibitors to only give free passes to 'bona fida' assistants or handlers 17. Showground Facilities - Refreshments, toilets and showers are provided on the Showground. Exhibitors are allowed to use the Members facilities after 6.00pm each show day where the catering and bars operate until 10.30pm 18. Access to the Showground - Exhibitors are asked to follow the directional signs to the Showground and to allow adequate time for entry to the show site, parking and unloading of their entries. Any vehicle attempting to enter the Showground without a vehicle pass will be charged £50 which is refunded if the vehicle is removed from the Showground before 8.00am on the morning of each show day 19. Opening Hours - Public opening hours are from 8.30am to 6.00pm. A security and noise curfew is in place after 11.00pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Show weekend 20. Car & Lorry Parks - Spaces will be allocated by the car parking steward and should any vehicle be discovered parked in any other area it will be towed away to the car parking area 21. Stockmen and Grooms - All stockmen and grooms must follow the appropriate dress code when parading/riding their animals for judging i.e. white coats, hard hats etc. 22. Smoking - The Society operates a no smoking rule in all tents, judging rings and in the Main Ring 23. Veterinary & Medical Cover - Are on site via the Secretary's Tent between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on Show days, after which a call out service is available. Exhibitors are responsible for any treatment costs incurred
