As in the past our Yearbook contains an abundance of information about our STA Section and our nine statewide districts. The STA continues to be the largest Section of the USTA in number of tennis players and our growth continues at a phenomenal rate. In order to properly serve the demands of the growth of tennis in the South we will during 1977 commence the organization of a larger and more professional staff to assist you. I urge all players, administrators and tournament officials to read carefully the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations contained in our Yearbook, and those contained in the USTA Yearbook, available from H.O. Zimman, Inc., 156 Broad Street, Lynn, Mass. 01901. After the printing of our Yearbook, we will again for 1977 update our schedule and print current Southern Tennis News in Tennis Week, a weekly newspaper distributed free to everyone who makes a tax deductible contribution to the Southern Tennis Patron's Foundation ($5,00 for juniors and $10.00 and above for adults) c/o the STA Office in Atlanta. The Southern Tennis Patrons will initiate the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame in Atlanta, December 2, 1977, and nominations for induction should be sent to Gilbert T. Stacy, 2015 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30309. The Summer Meeting of the STA will be held July 29-30, 1977, in Jackson, Mississippi, in conjunction with the Southern Adult Closed Championships. Our 1977 Annual Meeting will again include a Tennis Workshop conducted by the Southern Tennis Professional Association and will be held in Atlanta, December 1-3, 1977. Our meetings are open and we invite you to participate with us in serving and improving Southern Tennis. Best wishes, -/11.~ M.
