The party was created to promote separation of the provinces Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories and the Yukon from Canada. Ruth Gorman was a member of the Western Canada Concept party and travelled across Alberta advocating for the party. CUSTODIAL HISTORY: After Ruth Gorman’s death, custody of the records was transferred to her daughter Linda Gorman who donated the records to the Thomas A. Edge Archives & Special Collections in 2008. SCOPE AND CONTENT: The series consists of textual materials including correspondence discussing politics and the Western Canada Concept party, party pamphlets and newspaper and magazine articles about the party. There are also sound recordings which are mainly recordings of speeches she gave at party meetings in such places as Lethbridge, Consort and Milk River.
