THE PRESENTERS

KEYNOTE ADDRESS

David Parkin: David Parkin was a tough back pocket player who played 211 games and kicked 21 goals for the from 1961 to 1974. He was captain of the club from 1969 to 1973, during which time they won their second premiership in 1971. He won the Best and Fairest award for Hawthorn in 1965 and represented Victoria five times.

Parkin was an innovative coach who won four premierships during his career, with Hawthorn in 1978 and Carlton in 1981, 1982 and 1995. He was named Carlton’s coach in their Team of the Century, and is widely regarded as one of the super-coaches of the era. In 2000, Parkin returned to Hawthorn Football Club as Director of Football, where he remained until 2002. He was inducted into the AFL Football Hall of Fame in May of that year and is one of just six coaches to have enjoyed a career spanning over 500 VFL/AFL games. Parkin is currently a media commentator, appearing regularly on Fox Sport and ABC Radio.

SESSIONAL PRESENTERS

Dr. Stuart Cormack: Stuart Cormack joined the Essendon Football Club in October 2008 after eight years as fitness coach with the . During his time with the Eagles, they played in two Grand Finals, winning the 2006 Premiership. Prior to that, he spent four years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport. Cormack has a B. App. Sc, M. App. Sc and a PhD in Sports Science, and is actively involved in academic research. He has published numerous papers in scientific journals.

Peter Dean: Peter Dean was appointed Assistant Coach (Defence) at the Western Bulldogs in 2008 after spending time developing his coaching career with the Murray Bushrangers (TAC Cup) and Northern Bullants (VFL). He began his VFL/AFL playing career in 1984 with Carlton before retiring at the end of the 1998 season. Dean was an integral part of the Carlton Premiership teams in 1987 and 1995, earning Victorian selection in 1986 and 1991, and also representing Australia in two International Rules Tests against Ireland. Throughout his career, he played 241 games and kicked 41 goals.

Anton Grbac: Anton Grbac is currently employed in the Football Operations Department of AFL Victoria as High Performance Manager for the metropolitan region. He has previously held the positions of State Director of Coaching and Development Manager for the Calder Cannons. Grbac is a Level 3 coach who has coached regional squads at TAC Cup level and the Vic Metro U16 team for 6 years. He debuted in 1982 for Essendon as a defender and later went on to play for West Torrens in the SANFL.

Luke Beveridge: Luke Beveridge was recruited as Development Manager by Collingwood in 2009 after spending three seasons as the Head Coach of St Bedes in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. He coached St Bedes to three successive premierships moving up a section level each year from ‘C’ grade in 2006 to ‘A’ grade in 2008. Beveridge enjoyed a solid playing career over 11 seasons for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda. He played 118 AFL games and kicked 107 goals.
