Located in south central Idaho (and parts of northern Utah), Sawtooth National Forests encompasses areas near Twin Falls, Ketchum and the 754,000-acre Sawtooth National Recreation Area. There are over a thousand lakes and three thousand miles of rivers and bubbling brooks. Over one million people visit every year. From primitive camping (there's a whopping 81 campgrounds in the forest) to hiking over 1,000 miles of trails, fishing, four ski areas and whitewater boating, there's a little something for everyone. Elk Mountain Loop; Glimpses of the expansive Elk Meadows can be seen from portions of Elk Mountain Road. Shoshone Falls: A waterfall on the Snake River in southern Idaho, located approximately 3 miles northeast of the city of Twin Falls. Shoshone: Known as the oldest town in the Magic Valley area and said to have the "widest main street in the world" due to the four sets of tracks running through the center of the business district. Redfish Lake: An alpine lake in central Idaho, United States, located in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains in Custer County. Lowman: Lowman is at the junction with the "Banks-Lowman Highway"; now designated Highway 2512 A. It is the "Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway," it vertically descends 1,000 feet (300 m) with the whitewater of the South Fork to its confluence with the North Fork at Banks, the junction with State Highway 55, the "Payette River Scenic Byway."
