Sunday 7th June Name Miles Start Comments Christine Gadsby 5.3 Dunstable Walked up to Dunstable Downs. There were lots of paragliders and the usual dog walkers. Came back over the golf course. Juliet Chodzko 4.0 Hemel To Bovingdon Churchyard via FP's and Stoney Lane and back via the fields Marion Adams 10.0 Tring Tring reservoirs, Aldbury Nowers, and back through Tring Park using the Ridgeway. Chris Gregory 3.9 Apsley Mayo Walters 5.5 Redbourn Walked out of Redbourn and turned up to Flowers farm from the Bypass. Through the farm and then over a number of fields , past Dale End Farm and then to Hill End Road, and down that lane to the main road. Then down to Redbournbury Mill, over the ford and through various fields back to Redbourn. Wonderful views over the countryside and meadow larks and swallows, also 2 red kites. Lots of wild flowers among the concrete track. No sun to blind me this morning as I went East. Ian Brander 12.0 Cholesbury Cricket Club with Juliet and Anne to Asheridge and The Lee but I also did a bit of recce afterwards so walked 2 extra miles. John Drake 9.5 Berkhamstead Hertfordshire Way Berkhamstead-Bovingdon & return John Hounslow 8.5 Skirmett Road car park I decided to walk again my Hambledon, Medmenham and River Thames walk I led last year. Lots of free north of Mill End spaces in car park, would probably get very busy at the weekends. Ruth Crowther 6.3 Redbourn We walked on the Nickey line to Chequers lane and across the main road onto the Ver Valley walk towards the Redbourn Road. At our first mill house, we crossed the road and headed towards Redbournbury mill. From here, we continued towards St Albans to the last Mill (Shafford) which is my favourite with its sign “ No Bathers” and lots goslings. From here, we walked towards Childwickbury however ran out of time so retraced our steps to Redbournbury mill and then continued on the footpath to come out just before the Shell garage and back to Redbourn. Trevor Liddle 8.5 Cosgrove, Northants A lovely walk along the Grand Union, Gt Ouse River and through part of the Ouse Valley Park to Old Stratford and on through field paths to the hamlet of Passenham - church looked lovely but as per all closed. Back along river through meadows got lost a bit as had to divert and climb a barbed wire fence! to get back on track. Back along river to Old Stratford and then across fields to the old Buckingham canal back along to Cosgrove. The footpath we took out of Kimpton starts from Claggy Lane and heads west then North West up to Ansells End. Through Ansells End then west where it joins the Chiltern Way going north. At this point the field is planted with a wide wild flower border alive with Butterflies & Bees. The Chiltern Way continues to Whitwell and at the recreation ground we took the Hertfordshire Way back to Kimpton June Sutton 6.5 Kimpton Gordon Munro 9.3 Cholesbury Village Hall Marking this walk as future Group walk. Very pleasant walk,topped off by bumping into fellow Ramblers. Val, Heather, Pattie, Anne and Ian. Heard them coming well before seeing them. Low and behold it was Patti, Anne, Ian, Heather & Val. How lovely to stop and catch up! Ian Brander 10.5 Wendover Wendover, Wendover Woods, Pavis Woods and The Ridgeway. Juliet Chodzko 6.0 Berkhamsted Across to Northchurch Common where there is such a choice of paths on and around the Common that it's possible to vary the walk nearly every time. Until last week there were continual sounds of cuckoo activity. Christine Gadsby 6.7 Dunstable Warmer than yesterday, early walk and then a birthday card delivery. Lots of elderflowers blooming. Honeysuckle Hilary Fisher 7.0 Langton Herring, Dorset Beautiful walk along the Chesil Beach coastline in Dorset from Langton Herring, past Fleet Nature Reserve, to Chickerell Hive Point. Back over the hills. Sky clear enough to see Deveon in the distance. We had along chat with the friendly farmer at Well Farm about his friendly cows - some of you might remember the sign that he put up.
