Emmaline or 'Emma' as we affectionately_know her, has always: "Seen Her Goals And Achieved Them, Understood The Obstacles, Cleared Her Mind Of Doubt, Created A Positive Mental Picture, Stayed On Track, Shown The World That She Could Do It." Emma is the last of six siblings born to the union of Mr. Harold (deceased) and Mrs. Susan Pratt. During childhood, she was industrious and obedient; however, if she felt that something was wrong, she spoke out against it no matter the cost, she would always support the right. The has always been a bulwark for her. She maintained her Anglican faith, being an ardent worshipper at St. Matthew's, St. George's and continuing on to her present church home- St. Anne's. She fondly remembered the days of her Alma Mater- St. John's- the days of Father Bishop and Father Willie and Mr. Knight. The days of ! The days when schoolfriends still remember one another after twenty years. Realising the needs of this nation, she decided to choose nursing as a lifetime career. Completing the basic nurse education programme in 1972, Emma pursued the midwifery course; two years after graduation, in 1974 and qualified as a midwife one year later in 1975. Practicing on the Maternity Ward for ten years, Emma was a clinician as well as a preceptor for Nursing Students. Realising her aptitude for teaching, she sought transfer to the Bahamas School of Nursing (now the Nursing Division of the College of the Bahamas) in order to pursue her goal. Emma continued to be an avid learner, therefore, in August 1990 she matriculated at the University of the West Indies and achieved the Advanced Certificate in Nurse Education. Five years later, she received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing at the same Institute. On Marriage: You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days, Ay, you shall be together ever in the silent memory of GOD. Emma chose Mr. Sherwin 'Tommy' Burrows as her life mate, a friend to share her sorrows and her joys. Tameka, Jermal and· Sheena have been some of the many gifts of this partnership. Being professional and Civic minded, Emma served actively in the Nurse's Association, Parents' I Teachers' Association, a member of the Church Vestry, a member of the Church , and a member of the Anglican Church Women. Her recreational time was spent gardening, traveling, meeting people and brisk walking. On friendship- "You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give." Kahul Gibran Emma has always given much- HERSELF! The lives Emma touched are richer because of her touch. Left to attest to this are her loving husband, Sherwin "Tommy"; her daughters: Tameka and Sheena; a son, Jermal; her mother, Mrs. Susan Pratt; two sisters: Sr. Felicitus Pratt and Mrs. Elease Smith; two brothers: Joseph and Capt. John Pratt; father-in-law, Mr. Lowell Burrows; mother-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Burrows; ten aunts: Margaret and Annie Pratt, Parnell Darville, Alvara Cartwright, Susanna Martinborough, Johanna Allen, Doris Mortimer, Memie Clarke, Mavis Pratt and Ethelyn Cartwright; four uncles: George, James and Irvin Pratt and Nedley Martinborough; eight sisters-in-law: Gloria Pratt, Sandra Cartwright, Maxine Rahming, Shirley Curry, Gail Bethel, Eddie, Zilpha and Maggie Burrows; eight brothers-in-law: Richard Smith, Timothy, Peter and Matthew Burrows, Gus Cartwright, Loran Rahming, Paul Bethel and Edgar Curry; eleven nieces: Phyllis, Meussen, Sheryl and Trudy Deleveaux, Deniese Smith, Shanique, Nadia Cartwright, Meshalique, Chan tell and Lesille Burrows, Julie Curry and Ashley Bethel; nineteen nephews: Victor Wells, William Jr. and Linden Deleveaux, Frank, Kevin and Raymond Smith, Theron, Alex and Chris Pratt, Lowell, Enrico, Caswell, Miquel and Arie Burrows, Travante Cartwright, Larada and Riccihio Rahming, Gareth and Bryant Bethel; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends including: Dr. John Lunn, Sis. The Psalm 46 ...... Choir

God is is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved: and though the bills be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof rage and swell: and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same. · The rivers of the flood thereof shall make glad the city of God: the holy place of the tabernacle of .the most Highest. God is in the midst of her, therefore shall she not be removed: God shall help her and that right early. The heathen make much ado and the kingdoms are moved: but God hath shewed his voice, and the earth shall melt away. The Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge. 0 come hither and behold the works of the Lord: what destruction he hath brought upon the earth. He maketh wars to cease in all the world: he breaketh the bow, and knappeth the spear in sunder, and burneth the chariots in the fire. Be still then and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, and I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy , the of saints, the · forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Hymn ...... "And Can It Be"

And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Saviour's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me!

Emmaline Gntrudt Burrows 4 'Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies: Long my imprisoned spirit lay Who can explore His strange design? Fast bound in sin and nature's night; In vain the first-born seraph tries Thine eye diffused a quickening ray - To sound the depths of love divine. I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; 'Tis mercy all! let earth adore, My chains fell off, my heart was free. Let angel minds-inquire no more. I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

He left His Father's throne above No condemnation now I dread; So free, so infinite His grace - Jesus, and all in Him, is mine! Emptied Himself of all but love, Alive in Him, my living Head, And bled for Adam's helpless race, And clothed in righteousness divine, 'Tis mercy all, immense and free; Bold I approach the eternal throne, For, 0 my God, it found out me! And claim the crown, through Christ, my own.

On the night that He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave itto his disciples and said: "Take this, and eat it: This is my Body which is given for you, Do this for the remembrance of me."

The Hymn ...... "Our God Reigns"

EmtM tint Gtrt rutk Bu rrows 9 How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, good news, announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness: our God reigns, our God reigns! Our God reigns!

He had no stately form, he had no majesty, that we should be drawn to him. He was desised and we took no account of him, yet now he reigns with the most high. Now he reigns with the most high!

It was our sin and guilt that bruised and wounded him, It was our sin that brought him down. When we like sheep had gone astray, our shepherd came and on his shoulders bore our shame. On his shoulders he born our shame.

Meek as a lamb that's led out to the slaughterhouse, dumb as a sheep before its shearer, his life ran down upon the ground like pouring rain, that we might be born again. That we might be born again.

Out from the tomb he came with grace and majesty, he is alive, he is alive. God loves us so, see here his hands, his feet, his side, yes, we know he is alive. He is alive!

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, good news, announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness: our God reigns, our God reigns! Our God reigns!
