Renner WesternAustralian College of AdvancedEducation Joondalup Campus, Joondalup 6065 INTRODUCTION: The Joondalup Campus of the Western Australian College of Advanced Education is now well established and growing rapidly in size. In part this growth has resulted in an increasing demand for literature on the Perth North-West Corridor and increasing attention being directed to research on the environment and culture of the area. This bibliography has been prepared to facilitate research and scholarship both on the campus and beyond and to assist citizens of the Northern Corridor interested in learning more about their region~ Just over a decade ago two members of the Department of Geography at the University of Western Australia, Drs J Gentilli and D Rumley, produced a Bibliography of Metropolitan Perth, (Gentilli and Rumley, 1977). They asserted that their. work had grown out of an obvious need stemming from increasing interest in the problems in the metropolitan area which in turn had been accelerated by Perth's rapid growth over the preceeding twenty five years. In some ways the authors of this present edition were similarly impelled by the extraordinary developments which have taken place in Perth's northern suburbs over the past decade; a growth very much centred on what is now the City of Wanneroo, which, just a few short years ago, was a Shire based on rural industries. Today the City of Wanneroo is acknowledged as being the fastest growing local government authority in Western Australia, if not in Australia; a growth which has generated many fine new suburbs, industries and institutions, and as yet not completely at the expense of the long established rural industries. The authors of this bibliography have, in their endeavours, ventured beyond the boundaries of the City of Wanneroo to include material pertinent to the surrounding districts, specifically the City of Stirling and the Shires of Swan and Gingin. Broadly the collated material has taken in the area loosely defined as Perth's Northern Corridor. The authors have not set out to encompass all the types of material referenced in the Perth bibliography. These have been simplified, but still under a similar classification code. This has resulted in an alpha list of authors under each section heading within the overall classification, which hopefully will suffice to permit easy access to a particular reference. The classification however, has its shortcomings. Some entries fit more than one category and users should examine listings in related fields when searching for source materials. The bibliography is by no means complete. There remains a continuing need for revision as new works are published and older publications are uncovered. Advice and contributions are always welcomed. ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Acknowledgement for assistance with this project is due to many individuals and groups. In particular: To Mrs Carmen Germann who typed the first draft and to Mrs Barbara Dewar and Mrs Norma Schwind who continued the task of word processing and editing the entries. It was their indefatigable efforts which enabled publication to proceed.
