Justin Thomas Justin Thomas Commits to Valspar
VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASRELEASE:E: FEBRUARY 26, 2020 JUSTIN THOMAS COMMITS TO VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP Justin Thomas, currently ranked fourth in the Official World Golf Ranking while leading the 2020 FedExCup standings, has committed to the upcoming Valspar Championship. With the commitment of Thomas, the Valspar features the top three Americans in the current Official World Golf Ranking - #3 Brooks Koepka, #4 Justin Thomas and #5 Dustin Johnson. They are part of a stellar field that will try to deny Paul Casey, winner of the last two Valspar Championships, the first three-peat on the PGA TOUR since Steve Stricker won his third straight John Deere Classic in 2011. Thomas will be returning to the Copperhead after a two-year absence for his fourth Valspar Championship appearance. He finished 10 th in 2015 and 18 th in 2016 before missing the cut in 2017. The 26-year-old has already won 12 PGA TOUR events – all in the last 51 months. Five of his victories, including the 2017 PGA Championship, came in 2016- 17 when he was the 2017 FedExCup champion and 2017 PGA TOUR Player of the Year. Thomas is the current leader in the 2019-20 FedExCup standings after two more victories earlier this season at the CJ Cup in South Korea and the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. “It is great that JT has decided to return to the Copperhead which he has called one of his favorite courses on the PGA TOUR,” says Tournament Director Tracy West. “We have an outstanding field and are hopeful for even more additions in the next two weeks before the commitment deadline.” .
