SCIENCE IS HOT! New Science Shows Heat Up Wednesdays in February Science Wednesdays sizzle this month with the premiere of EARTH A New Wild! Conservation scientist Dr. M. Sanjayan hosts this ambitious, fresh, five-part series showcasing our relationship with nature in ways never before seen on television. In the series’ premiere, Home, Wednesday, February 4, at 9 PM, cuddle with baby pandas and avoid the eye of the tiger. At 10 PM, follow a unique elephant conservation project in South Africa and roam the greatest gathering of animal life on Plains. Then, Wednesdays in February, at 10 PM, travel uncharted parts of the Amazon, join cork forest farmers in Portugal, meet the collaborative restoring our oceans and take a stunning dip into Earth’s most crucial resource—water. Wonders never cease with new episodes of NOVA digging into some of the world’s most mysterious and miraculous building marvels! In Building Wonders: Colosseum: Roman Death Trap, Wednesday, February 11, at 9 PM, see how ancient Romans built their landmark for staging naval battle reenactments and other spectacles, and watch a team re-create a lifting machine and trap-door system to release a wolf. Then, Wednesday, February 18, at 9 PM, to discover how Jordanian nomads created an oasis of culture in one of the harshest climates on earth, and ultimately, why it disappeared on Building Wonders: Petra—Lost City of Stone. Go back to school at Western Carolina University’s Human Decomposition Facility to learn what happens to bodies after death in order to solve real-life murders and mishaps. Dive into the social sciences as researchers work to preserve the 3,000-year-old Cherokee language. And see how scientists conducting land surveys reveal how even the smallest creatures bring big benefits to our land.
