www.cherryorchardfc.com No. 98, May 2010 Jonathan Daly and Sean Dillon in Scottish Cup Final

Well done to Jonathan Daly and Sean Dillon, who were both in the Dundee Utd team for the 2-0 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on 11th April. Utd will meet First Division Ross County, shock 2-0 winners over Celtic in the other semi-final, in the final at Hampden on 15th May. Sean (26), who joined Aston Villa from the Orchard in 1999, has twice tasted success in cup competitions, playing in Longford Town’s FAI Cup wins in 2003 and 2004 and he also won the League of Ireland title with Shelbourne in 2006. And, having been on the bench when Utd lost to Rangers in the CIS Cup final two years ago, he will be very keen to play against Ross County. Jonathan Daly, because of a knee injury, did not make his first appearance of the season until 27th November, when he scored in the 2-1 win over Celtic. He has added 12 more league goals, the latest coming in the 3-2 victory against Motherwell on 18th April. Jonathan will be trying for his first winners medal in senior football on 15th May and we wish him and Sean the very best of luck as Dundee Utd look for only their second Scottish Cup success, having won in 1994. Alan Lee Scores As Palace Survive

Alan Lee headed the opening goal after 24 minutes as Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on the final day of the Championship season on 2nd May. The result meant that Wednesday, who needed a win to stay up, were relegated and Palace escaped the drop, after a turbulent season which saw the club go into administration and have 10 points deducted.

Andy Reid Undergoes Surgery

Commiserations to Andy Reid (Sunderland), who had an operation to repair a calf injury on 27th April. Andy picked up a hamstring injury in Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on 8th February – his 25th appearance of the season – and the calf problem developed as he attempted to come back from that injury. We wish Andy well with his rehabilitation and hope that he will have recovered in time for pre season training in July.
