Members .are religious leaders such as Dr. Jerry Falwell, president of the Moral Majority, who reaches 20 million TV viewers a week on the Ole Time Gospel Hour; Pat Robertson, president of Christian Broadcasting Network, whose daily TV program reaches the top 50 markets and more than 1,000 cable TV stations; well-known evangelist James Robison; Ed McAteer, president of the Religious Roundtable; Dr. and Mrs. Tim LaHaye; Bill Bright, president of Campus Crusade for Christ, whose world-wide ministry has 30,000 employees, and others. Business leaders in the Council include Joe Coors of Adolph Coors Brewing Company; Bunker Hunt of Hunt Oil Company; Bob Perry, the largest homebuilder in the Houston area; Mary Crowley, president of Home Interior and Gifts, Inc., the largest corporation in America owned by a woman; Sam Moore, president of the largest publishing firm of Bibles in the world, and others. Political leaders who are members include Tom Ellis of North Carolina's Congressional Club; Nellie Gray, president of March for Life; Phyllis Schlafly; Terry Dolan; Paul Weyrich; Richard Viguerie, publisher of Conservative Digest; Howard Phillips; Sen. C. Dear Morton: It is a pleasure for me to extend to you an invitation to serve as a member of the Board of Governors of the Council for National Policy. The Council for National Policy has 35 members, including some of the most influential business, political and religious leaders in America who believe in the free enterprise system, human liberty, and the need for moral rebirth in our country. Some of our members are Joe and Holly Coors of Adolph Coors Company, Dr. Jerry Falwell of the Moral Majority, Dr. Pat Robertson of Christian Broadcasting Network, Ed Feulner of the Heritage Foundation, Bunker Hunt, William Rusher of the National Review, Reed Larson of National Right to Work Committee, Tom Ellis of the Congressional Club, and others. Our next quarterly meeting will be held May 18 and 19 in Washington. David Stockman will attend a dinner party we are holding in his honor on the evening of the 18th. Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 48106-1346 2 ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to investigate whether the Reagan administration was influenced by ‘New Right’ ideas. Foreign policy issues were chosen as test cases because the presidency has more power in this area which is why it could promote an aggressive stance toward the United Nations and encourage withdrawal from UNESCO with little impunity. Chapter 1 deals with American society after 1945. It shows how the ground was set for the rise of Reagan and the New Right as America moved from a strong affinity with New Deal liberalism to a new form of conservatism, which the New Right and Reagan epitomised. Chapter 2 analyses the New Right as a coalition of three distinctive groups: anti-liberals, New Christian Right, and neoconservatives.

J _j. c files this complaint seeking an immediate investigation by the 7 c; a > Federal Election Commission into the illegal spending A* practices of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (WRSCIt). As the public record shows, and an investigation will confirm, the NRSC and a series of ostensibly nonprofit, nonpartisan groups have undertaken a significant and sustained effort to funnel "soft money101 into federal elections in violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended or "the Act"), 2 U.S.C. 5s 431 et seq., and the Federal Election Commission (peFECt)Regulations, 11 C.F.R. 85 100.1 & sea. 'The term "aoft money" as ueed in this Complaint means funds,that would not be lawful for use in connection with any federal election (e.g., corporate or labor organization treasury funds, contributions in excess of the relevant contribution limit for federal elections). THE FACTS IN TBIS CABE On November 24, 1992, the state of Georgia held a unique runoff election for the office of United States Senator. Georgia law provided for a runoff if no candidate in the regularly scheduled November 3 general election received in excess of 50 percent of the vote. The 1992 runoff in Georg a was a hotly contested race between the Democratic incumbent Wyche Fowler, and his Republican opponent, Paul Coverdell. The Republicans presented this election as a %ust-win81 election. Exhibit 1. The Republicans were so intent on victory that Senator Dole announced he was willing to give up his seat on the Senate Agriculture Committee for Coverdell, if necessary.

    Collection 93 Osborne, Ollie Tucker (1911-1994). Papers, 1927-1985 22 feet Ollie Tucker Osborne's papers detail the activities of one of Louisiana's leading advocates of women's rights during the 1970s. Ollie was extremely active in the League of Women Voters and the Evangeline ERA coalition. She attended conferences or workshops throughout the South. She was appointed to the 1977 state women's convention in Baton Rouge and was elected a state delegate to the national convention in Houston. She helped organize or coordinate a number of workshops and conferences in Louisiana on women's rights. Much of this often frenetic activity can be seen through her papers. Osborne was born in northern Louisiana and educated at Whitmore College and Louisiana State University. Just before graduation she married Louis Birk, a salesman for McGraw-Hill & Company, and moved to New York. After several false starts Osborne launched a career in public relations and advertising which she pursued for twenty years. This included some pioneering work in television advertising. Following the sudden death of Birk in 1952, Osborne returned to Louisiana where she met and married Robert Osborne, an English professor at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). During the next two decades she was busy as president of Birk & Company, a publisher of reading rack pamphlets. Osborne's introduction to politics at the state level was as an official League of Women Voters observer of the 1973 Constitutional Convention. Early in the year she determined that some on-going communication link was necessary to allay voter fear and apathy about the new constitution.

Neoliberalism, Competitive Federalism, and the Enduring Fragmentation of the American Market Why do interstate barriers persist and proliferate in the US and go unnoticed by neoliberal policy-makers, while in other places, like the EU, they get systematically addressed? I challenge the common assumption that the EU is trying but failing to emulate the single market created in the US a long time ago. I show that in many ways, the EU has adopted more liberal rules for the exchange of goods and services across its members states than the US has in effect across its state borders.

XI No. 15 50 Cents THE YOUNG REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION: COMMEITUY: TBE GOP THE REAGAN RALLY THAT WASN'T If Ronald Reagan was serious about nJRDfng for President, the Young Republican National Federation CORvention in Indianapolis in early July should have been a Reagan rally. Ever since con­ 'servatives took over the organization in i963 as a prelude to Sen. Barry Goldwater's presidential nomination a year later, the YRNF has been solidly in conservative hands. It still is---so the stage was set for an impressive demonstration of Reagan's popularity with the Republican troops. But the Reagan rally never materialized. Part of the problem was Reagan himself. The only two mysteries of 1976 presidential poli­ tics so .far have been whether Reagan will really end up running and whether Nelson Rockefeller will end up as Gerald Ford's nmning mate. Without these two question on which to speculate, political columnists would have had a dull year. But in Indianapolis, Reagan declined to capitalize on his backing from the top YR leadership---or the "Team" as they are now known. The Reagan problem was summed up in the New York Times by new YR Vice Chairman Morton Blackwell of Virginia: "This is not a pro-Ford convention. ~ut the opportunity for a Reagan candidacy to benefit from this convention was lost-deliberately, I think-by the Reagan forces. The "Team leadership. here was prepared to do overt things on behalf of Reagan, but Reagan's people said all they wanted was an open convention reS' olution.

We respectfully recommend that you announce to the nation that you are beginning a four-step War on Waste, that stamping out profl igate government spending is a top priority of your administration. Step 1 – Start a Transparency Revolution Publicize every White House expenditure. Direct every department and agency in your administration to follow suit. Classifi ed expenditures would be excluded. Transparency will be a culture-changing force. It will revolutionize government. It will infl uence how people vote. Knowing there is nowhere to hide will motivate politicians to earn votes with fi scal prudence rather than wasting taxpayer dollars by buying votes. We are living in the Information Age and the Big Data world. There is no reason why every government expenditure should not be public, accessible to the voting public via cell phone, computer, and iPad.
