Disc Golf is played much like traditional golf. Lighthouse Disc Golf who uses the Levelland Disc Golf course has hosted several regional tournaments with pro competition. The difference is instead of balls and clubs, players use a flying disc (similar to Frisbee). The object of the game is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws. The discs are thrown from a tee area to a target, which is called the hole. The hole is an elevated metal basket. Disc Golf can be played from school age to old age. Much like traditional golf, this sport can be enjoyed alone, with a group of friends, or with the whole family. Disc Golf pro- vides both physical and mental activities with little risk of physical injury. It provides up- per and lower body conditioning and aerobic exercise. Concentration skills increase by mastering shots and negotiating obstacles. Levelland also has a Skate Park located at 4th St. and Ave C. The ramps are pre cast concrete situ- ated back to back to create a half pike effect; ramps with grind bars and a grinding picnic table are also available. The park is lighted with stands. Next to the skate park is two tennis courts avail- able for play during the day.
