THERE WILL BE NO Contact Info: BrucelKim Glenn CLASS FOR THE [email protected] MONTH OF JULy 4502 Arlington, Dr. W. Richland, WA 99353 491-9181 President's Bark I would like to begin by reminding everyone that there will not be a general meeting in July. Our next meeting will be the annual awards picnic being held at Dave and Helen Criswell's home on August st 1 • This is always a fun day and lots of food. Again, the Kennel Club will provide the main dishes and everyone attending should bring a passing dish (side dish or desert). This is truly a social event with lots of good times and great conversations!! If you have not already done so, please put in for your award. We have a short time to get the plaques made up and if you are late in your application, the plaque may be late getting to you. We take all award applications to the Board for their approval. The by-laws require applicants for awards to be in good standing with the club and to also be an active member. The awards are for any AKC recognized award. The importance of these awards is to demonstrate how active our club members are in AKC sponsored events and to recognize achievements in this participation. This is also the time for our Club to recognize all the members for their continued and active support of RKCevents, especially the fall dog show. Without all of you, we would not be successful. Thank you to everyone!! AKC has recently authorized a new event called the Owner-Handler series. This event is held in conjunction with AKC authorized conformation events (which we will hold at our Saturday show) to recognize non-professional handlers in the breed and group rings. This event is judged by the same breed judges following Best of Breed judging, and breed winners progress from Breed to Group to Best in Show. Our Club is fortunate to have one of our members achieve Owner-Handler Best in Show. Paul Tragesser achieved this honor with their Samoyed "0S0." This accomplishment is even more outstanding when you consider the short time that Paul and Sarah have been exhibiting dogs. This is a credit not only to Paul but to the Richland Kennel Club. Our Club is truly a reflection of our members and no one could represent us better than Paul. Thank you Paul and Oso for a job well done!! Traditionally, during the month of July, there is no handling class. This is due to the temperature of the summer month. We all need to be aware of the upcoming heat and take those necessary preventive measures to protect our animals. Lots of water and adequate shade becomes a must. Also, be conscious of the potential for heat exhaustion if you leave a dog in a locked car. It takes only a few minutes to get over 100 degrees in a vehicle, even with the windows rolled down a little. None of us would want to see anyone lose an animal in this heat. Take care of yourselves and your pets!! I would also like to let everyone know that Bonnie & I will be traveling to Michigan on July s" and will return around July zo". While we will be out of touch for these 2 weeks, we truly will have times when we will think of all of you. You have become much more than members, you are friends. We wish a happy and healthy July to all of you!! st We will see you at our next meeting at Dave & Helen Criswell's home on August 1 • Your President Chuck Ames Courtney Guthrie German Shepherds "Judge" Received his BH Rose Davis Paul Tragesser Boston Terrier Samoyeds "Bristol" Spokane & Coeur D' Alene--3rd Group Won Best in Match at the Richland & Best in Show "Owner Handler" Kennel Club Yakima-4tb Group Fun Match with Cindi McInturf handling Stacia Gunderson Dobermans Cindi McInturf "Remy" 11 mono German Shepherds Yakima-Rally Novice "Kaleel's WPT Texas Hold'em" Saturday 96 score - tied for 1st place-- "Rio" Sunday 92 score - 1st Place (First Show) Walla Walla-1st leg in Rally Novice B WA State Spec.-2Dd & 3rd leg in Rally NoviceB Bonnie & Chuck Ames Earning him his RN title Pembroke Welsh Corgi Doing this in 3 straight shows Fargo,ND "Classie"-WB & BOB Alyssa Paxton -Best Puppy Aussies -Best Bred By "Camas Creek's Bella Rosso NAP NJP" "Bella" Marilyn Clark Earned her Novice Jumpers Preferred Tibetan Spaniels title Fargo,ND Qualifying both days and finishing in "Tibroke's Crystalized Sugar" first place Friday- WB 5 pt Major Saturday-Best Puppy Michele and Bill Murray Sunday- WB 5pt Major "Scottish Terrier" Pembroke Welsh Corgi Their Son "Will" graduated from High "Amsburg's Own Minute To Win It" School Friday-WB Sunday- WB & BOB Teresa Obenaure Aussies Leila Grandemange "Jazmine" Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Spokane--RWB on Sunday "Grandville Butterscotch Kiss" Pembroke Welsh Corgi Is now a Dual Champion "Bodie" She earned her CKCSC and AM CH in Couer D' Alene-4-6 month class Winner March & April group 1 Herding Puppy She finished with a back to back Best In Show at the CKCS Specialty show Cheryl Stevens Congratulations to her Owner Tracie Boxers Lablierte "Draymia's Packing Heat" "Grandville Emmanuelle" "Plum" Moses Lk-BOW 4 pt Major at Coeur D'Alene Walla Walla-BOS ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• • • Upcoming • • Show Dates • • • ~ ~ ·• <. :t,;:: .~ ~ -'~~f .• · ~ ~ . • Hurricane Ridge KC • • Sequim, WA • • Dates: 7/27-28/13 • • Closes: 7/10/13 • • BaRay • • • • Nissqually KC • • Lacey, WA • • Dates: 8/10-11/13 • • Closes: 7/24/13 • • &~ • • • • • • • • • • • • Instant Raffle donation Items Needed • • • • Paper Towels • • Hand wipe packets • • Microwave popcorn • •• Dog toys (no frisbees-RKC providing) • • Band Aids & first aid items • • Life Saver candy or any hard candy (NOChocolate) • • EJeenex • • PencilslPens • • Note pads • • Gift cards • • Poop bags • • Anything you can think of, such as household items • • No clothing please.. ... • • • Contact Bonnie Ames • • 588-6430 • • • • • • • ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Richland Kennel Club General Club Meeting Minutes June 6, 2013 The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Ames at the Richland Community Center at 7:39pm.
