Background The Boise City Department of Arts & History created A is for Art: Boise's Public Art Alphabet Book in 2008. Inspired by a desire to engage children through art, the department created a free publication that parents, caretakers, educators, interested residents and visitors could use. The book is meant to be a fun and educational introduction to the City of Boise’s Public Art Collection while encouraging children to learn their letters.

Example from A is for Art: Boise’s Public Art Alphabet Book The A is for Art: Boise's Public Art Alphabet Book is a popular book among children, educators and parents that uses local images of public art to teach children their letters, read, and gain exposure to Boise, Idaho’s Public Art Collection. The goal for revamping the A is for Art: Boise's Public Art Alphabet Book is to continue introducing the City of Boise's site-based public art collection to interested residents while encouraging children to develop an important skill. The book has been out of publication for thirteen years, but the Department of Arts & History would like to re-imaging and republish a new A is for Art: Boise’s Public Art Alphabet Book in 2021. The collection has grown, and the request for this popular publication calls for an updated version of the A is for Art: Boise's Public Art Alphabet Book.
