Yet almost a dozen candidates were splitting the vote, leaving Ritchie leading but neck-and-neck in polls with Rubén Díaz Sr.—a longtime anti- LGBTQ extremist. As the primary approached, the danger of electing Díaz was real. To celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2021, we will launch a five-year strategic plan that rapidly grows the organization and amplifies its impact, while celebrating the LGBTQ leaders who paved the way.
