Key Findings

There is sufficient number of 2, 3 and 4 year old funded places across the area with 624 places available at any one time for 453 eligible children For 0-2’s 12.5% of children can access a childcare place The area has 594 children living in the 20% Most Deprived areas (IDACI), an increase of 53 from October 2017 Migration of children to childcare providers within and without the area for summer 2018 is +115 with 229 coming in and 114 going out In addition to future growth through planning permissions over the next 5 years 3,500 new homes are being planned in requiring 404 additional funded places if/when homes are occupied) The Out Of School Clubs may meet demand Parents currently have a choice of the type of provider they can access

Ofsted rated ‘Good or Outstanding’ is at 100% for group providers and 100% for childminders

New provision would need to be of high quality to compete in this market and provide a flexible offer to meet parents needs
