The County of (C3042 Pooley Bridge) (Known locally as Road)(Main carriageway Clearway and Prohibition of Stopping on Verge) Experimental Order 2021

1. The Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 3 August 2021 it made the above Order under Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The Experimental Order will come into operation on Monday 16 August 2021 and its effect will be to: -

(i) prohibit any vehicle from stopping along the main carriageway, including the passing area of the main carriageway of the C3042 Pooley Bridge, known locally as Howtown Road, from its junction with the U3159 (Pooley Bridge Crossroads), extending in a south westerly direction to the cattle grid at the bottom of Martindale Hause, a total distance of approximately 6.12km/4 miles; and

(ii) prohibit any vehicle from stopping along the verge of the C3042 Pooley Bridge, known locally as Howtown Road, from its junction with the U3159 (Pooley Bridge Crossroads), extending in a south westerly direction to the cattle grid at the bottom of Martindale Hause, a total distance of approximately 6.12km/4miles.

3. The Order will continue in force for a maximum of 18 months.

4. Full details of the Experimental Order, together with a plan showing the length of road concerned and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order, may be inspected at The Steamers Shop and Information Centre, The Square, Pooley Bridge, CA10 2NW ; and may be viewed on the Council’s website and may otherwise be obtained by emailing [email protected]

5. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 3 August 2021 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

6. The County Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within six months from 16 August 2021, any person may object to the making of an Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation.
