EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital SLR Camera

TheThe hhigh-resolution,igh-resolution, fullfull frameframe digitaldigital SLRSLR for true professionals EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital SLR Camera

A NEW LEVEL OF IMAGE QUALITY AND POWER

Canon’s newly developed 16.7 Megapixel CMOS sensor can create images large enough for almost any purpose. Thanks to smooth gradations and effective suppression of noise and false colours it meets the highest expectations and delivers outstanding image quality. The same size as 35mm film, measuring 24 x 36mm, this sensor is full frame, so there’s no focal length conversion factor. As a result, lenses will have the same angle of view as they would on a 35mm camera, bringing out the full potential of Canon’s professional EF Lenses.

Driven by the revolutionary new DiG!C II Imaging Processor, the EOS-1Ds Mark II delivers high levels of performance and superb image quality. The massive data generated by the sensor is processed at extremely high speed, and assembled into images of exceptional clarity and resolution with natural colour reproduction. CMOS sensor DiG!C II Imaging Engine

OUTSTANDING SPEED

The EOS-1Ds Mark II has been designed to capture images with outstanding speed. Thanks to the lightning-fast 0.3 second start-up time, the short shutter-release time lag of 55 milliseconds, a viewfinder blackout time between exposures of approximately 87 milliseconds, you’ll be ready to shoot whenever shutter opportunities arise. DiG!C II also makes accelerated image processing and high-speed data reading possible, allowing for a continuous shooting speed of 4 frames per second for maximum bursts of 32 shots with a top shutter speed of 1/8,000 sec.

ULTIMATE DURABILITY

With its well-coated, rigid magnesium alloy body, improved dust- proofing and water-proofing seals, the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II allows you to shoot in the most demanding conditions. It also features a shutter that is designed to endure 200,000 cycles.

EOS-1 CLASS PERFORMANCE

Canon’s top of the line EOS cameras have always featured a “1” designation in their model name, and the EOS 1Ds Mark II is no exception. With shutter speeds from 1/8,000 to 30 sec., 1/250 sync. speed, 100% viewfinder coverage and ISO speeds up to 3200, the EOS-1Ds Mark II certainly lives up to its name. Shutter lag is a paltry 55 milliseconds, focus is achieved with near-instant precision using a 45-point AF system, exposure is measured precisely with a 21-zone metering sensor, and the camera features a high level of customisation.

EXCEPTIONAL CONTROL

The EOS 1Ds Mark II features seven Colour Matrix settings for JPEG and RAW images, allowing unparalleled control over colour characteristics – two of which allow independent user adjustment of colour space, colour saturation and colour tone within a prescribed range. Photographers can also choose between sRGB and Adobe RGB colour space. You’ll also enjoy unprecedented freedom with ISO speeds (from 50-3200) and ISO speed bracketing is also possible, enabling exposure to be varied while maintaining the same shutter speed and aperture setting.

In addition, the EOS-1Ds Mark II enables highly accurate colour reproduction in different lighting conditions through 10 selectable white balance modes and manual adjustment of colour temperature. White Balance Compensation allows adjustment of blue/amber and magenta/green biases in ±9 steps. Besides the standard White Balance Bracketing, images can be bracketed to a blue/amber or magenta/green bias.

What’s more, the EOS-1Ds Mark II features 20 Custom Functions with 65 settings, delivering unmatched professional flexibility. And 27 Personal Functions can be installed in the camera at any time allowing users to customise their camera to suit their individual needs.

NEW AND IMPROVED FEATURES

The EOS-1Ds Mark II features a number of improvements enabling better . It comes equipped with two card slots – one for Compact Flash (CF) and one for Secure Digital (SD) Memory cards. This allows maximum storage capacity, extra security and simultaneous recording on both cards.

It also has an E-TTL II auto-flash system incorporating lens distance information to ensure more accurate flash exposure and more stable control, particularly with bright, reflective objects or off-centre subjects. Dual memory card slot

A new high-definition, 230,000 pixel 2.0-inch colour LCD screen offers nearly twice the resolution of monitors on other EOS digital models. It displays close to 100% of JPEG images and features five brightness settings. Displayed images can be magnified 1.5x to 10x to check the focus and exposure with high precision.

Another unique professional function is the RGB histogram. It enables separate checking of colour information for the red, green and blue channels, as well as inspection of other colour information including white balance, colour balance, saturation and gradation compression.

PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE

The EOS-1Ds Mark II comes bundled with Canon’s EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk and Digital Photo Professional. These easy-to-use tools are designed to seamlessly transform data captured by the EOS-1Ds Mark II into a spectacular digital file, perfect for any application the photographer may have in mind.

UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES WITH THE CANON EOS SYSTEM

Canon’s EOS System is a varied, ever-expanding range of interchangeable lenses and accessories. The EOS-1Ds Mark II is compatible with Canon’s world-renowned line-up of EF series lenses* (including over 50 lenses), and also integrates with EX-series Speedlites – such as the new flagship 580EX that communicate colour, temperature and date.

What’s more, the EOS-1Ds Mark II’s compatibility with the new Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1 allows cable-free transfer of image data. So no matter how specialised your interests become, the EOS System makes the EOS-1Ds Mark II an endlessly flexible tool in the hands of serious photographers.
