Make a Difference Gift your “IRA Rollover” to the CHSAA CHS Alumni aged 70½ or Older

The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, which was passed by Congress and signed into law by the president on December 18, 2015, made permanent what is popularly known as the IRA charitable rollover.

Here are the requirements and restrictions for making an IRA charitable rollover gift: • The donor must be 70½ or older. • The gift must be made directly from the IRA to an eligible charitable organization. • Gifts to all charities combined cannot exceed a total of $100,000 per taxpayer for the year. • The gifts must be outright, and no material benefits can be received in return for the gifts. Thus a transfer for a gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, or pooled income fund is not permitted. • Gifts cannot be made to a donor advised fund, supporting organization, or private foundation. • The gift is not included in taxable income, and no charitable deduction is allowed.

The difference your gift will make: • Endow the Association with a full-time Executive Director and erect Alumni Hall as the official community building for everything CHS. • Provide you “naming rights” on rooms within Alumni Hall • You pay no federal income taxes on your gift. Your gift generates neither taxable income nor tax deductions.

Sounds like a wonderful idea but need more information contact James Parker ’63 at 413-562-5120

Between its cheerful employees,Profile happy visi- tors and Cosmo the dog, Town Clerk Tricia Dzuris’ office is always filled with positivity and life. Responsible for tasks such as filing vital records, taking care of dog registra- tion, and managing all aspects of voting, Dzuris’ position is essential to keeping our town running smoothly, and she handles her duties with confidence and poise.

Even before she worked in the Town Offices, Dzuris was a Chelmsford resident for much of her life. Her family moved to Chelmsford when she was in fifth grade, and she graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1978, her favorite class being Mr. Prescott’s anatomy class. In 1994, she moved back so her daughter could attend Chelms- ford Public Schools, and has lived here ever since.

This fall we have had some new improvements to our athletic facilities. In the stadium we had work done on our lights. In the gym, and the fitness center a new sound-system was installed and new sideline chairs were purchased to give our gym a more professional look and feel. The class of 2019 also donated the funds to purchase a piece of wall art in the front gym lobby that will welcome everyone to our facility. These enhancements have helped update our gym area and given it a new, updated look.

Since our last report, we had many successful teams in the Spring of 2019. Our Boys Baseball team were MVC Champions and made it to the Division 1 North Semifinals. After the season, longtime, legendary coach Mike O’Keefe stepped down after 25 seasons and over 300 wins. Coach O’Keefe is one of the best to ever do it, and he will be missed on the diamond in the spring.

Our Girls Lacrosse team won their second consecutive Division 1 North Title with another outstanding season. Winning a Sectional Championship in any sport is an amazing accomplishment, and winning two in a row puts Girls Lax D1N Champions these girls in rare company at Chelmsford High School.
