With the help of the cast and production team, Millie was presented with a Girlguiding Anglia Buddy Award for all the help that she gives to Charlotte – who has Global Development Delay – during Guide meetings and events. The Buddy Award is given to young women in guiding who act as buddies, supporting other Guides with additional needs within units, at events or on camps and holidays. Millie had been nominated for the award by 1st Willingham Guide leaders. The Anglia Region Awards Committee unanimously agreed that Millie should receive the Buddy Award as she had ‘shown a great deal of support and help towards Charlotte’. This month we see Green Street looking towards Rampton During the pantomime the dame received a ‘special End, probably about 1950. The building furthest away is, delivery’ of Millie’s certificate. Millie and Charlotte were more recently, ‘Rainbow Crafts’ but the building on the then invited on to the stage to receive the award which left was the home of Dennis Jeeps who was responsible was a surprise to both of them. Both girls also received a for archiving most of the photos we have in the collection special badge. today. His house was demolished for new development a The Guide leaders would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to few years ago. The story I heard is that the flags are actual Over Players for making this possible and ‘Congratulations Royal Navy signal flags that were ‘obtained’ by a sailor and Well Done’ to Millie for getting this well‐deserved when de‐mobbed after World War II. How they came into award. Dennis’s possession I do not know but he used to display them for special occasions. Does anyone know their whereabouts now? See more photos at www.oldwillingham.com.
