Porto earned a 1-1 draw at Schalke, although but for an early missed penalty, they might have had all three points. Form guide Porto • Porto are in the UEFA Champions League for the 23rd season – the joint highest total ever alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona. • Porto have reached the round of 16 in the last two years, and have qualified from the group three times in the last four seasons. In 2017/18 they lost 5-0 on aggregate to eventual runners-up Liverpool in the last 16 having been beaten at home by the same scoreline in the first leg – their last European home fixture. • Porto picked up six points at home in last season's group stage, when their first home game was, as now, against Turkish opposition, a 3-1 loss against Beşiktaş on matchday one. • That was Porto's first defeat against a Turkish club; having subsequently drawn 1-1 in Istanbul, their record in ten such fixtures is now W6 D3 L1. • Porto have won only four of their last 11 home matches in European competition, losing five. Galatasaray • Turkish champions in 2017/18, Galatasaray last reached the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in 2013/14. • Galatasaray are in the group stage for the 15th time – the same number as all other Turkish teams combined. • The Istanbul club's 2017/18 European campaign lasted only one tie – they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Swedish club Östersund in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round. • Cimbom have lost their last four European away matches, and ten of the last 11 (D1); they are without a victory in 13 matches (D2 L11), since a 3-2 success at Schalke in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League round of 16. • Galatasaray were victorious in each of their first two games in Portugal, although their most recent brought a 2-1 defeat at Benfica in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage. • Galatasaray are the only team from Turkey to have reached a European Cup semi-final, in 1989. Links and trivia • Iker Casillas has now appeared in 20 UEFA Champions League campaigns, a competition record. • Maicon was a Porto player between 2009 and 2016, scoring 13 goals in 190 matches; part of the victorious 2010/11 UEFA Europa League team, he also won three Portuguese Liga titles, two Portuguese Cups, and four domestic Super Cups with the Dragons. • Alex Telles joined Galatasaray in summer 2013, scoring two goals in 60 appearances over two years. • Fernando joined Porto in 2007, spending 2007/08 with Estrela da Amadora before six seasons in the Porto side, scoring six times in 236 appearances. A 2010/11 UEFA Europa League winner with the Dragons, his trophy haul in Portugal also included four league titles, three Portuguese Cups and five Super Cups. • Has also played in Portugal: Garry Rodrigues (Real Massama 2007–09) • Have also played in Turkey: Fabiano (Fenerbahçe 2015–17) Vincent Aboubakar (Beşiktaş 2016/17) • Fabiano's sole appearance against Galatasaray with Fenerbahçe was a 1-0 defeat in the 2016 Turkish Cup final. • Have played together: Alex Telles & Yuto Nagatomo (Internazionale Milano 2015/16) • International team-mates: Maxi Pereira & Fernando Muslera (Uruguay) Yacine Brahimi & Sofiane Feghouli (Algeria) Chidozie Awaziem & Henry Onyekuru (Nigeria) 4 FC Porto - Galatasaray AŞ Wednesday 3 October 2018 - 21.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Estádio do Dragão, Porto Latest news Porto • Summer transfers In: João Pedro (Palmeiras)*, Chancel Mbemba (Newcastle United)*, Marius Mouandilmadji (Cotonsport)*, Éder Militão (São Paulo), Jorge (Monaco, loan), Riechedly Bazoer (Wolfsburg, loan) Out: Ricardo Pereira (Leicester City), Iván Marcano (Roma), Diogo Dalot (Man.
