Head Coach Lisa Stockton will embark upon her 24th season at the helm of the Tulane women’s basketball program and 27th overall as head coach in 2017-18. Last season, the Green Wave took THE STOCKTON FILE... a strength of schedule ranked 35th in the country and went 18-15 overall, achieving their 12th Date of Birth: April 1, 1964 straight winning season and eighth consecutive trip to the postseason. In addition, Stockton’s Hometown: Greensboro, N.C. Green Wave once again tied its longest run in the WNIT by reaching the third round, produced their ninth straight year with 10 or more wins at home (12-5) and most notably took a 100-game- Alma Mater: Wake Forest, 1986 winning-streak UConn team to its limit with a 63-60 loss. That marks the second-closest any Education: B.S. Health and Sports Science team had gotten to the upset and closest any American squad had gotten, besting USF’s 16-point loss in January 2016. Playing Experience High School: Western Guilford, 1978-82 Stockton’s career record of 550-275 as a collegiate head coach is good for a .667 winning College: Wake Forest, 1982-8 percentage, and she is 487-248 (.663) during her time at Tulane including a 217-139 (.610) mark in NWBA: Drafted in 1986 conference play. Coaching Experience Stockton has led the Green Wave to the postseason 18 times (11 NCAAs, 7 WNITs) and claimed 1986-87: Graduate Assistant, North Carolina conference Coach of the Year honors three times (Metro in 1995, C-USA in 2007 and 2010). In 1987-90: Head Coach, Greensboro College addition, Tulane has won four C-USA regular-season championships (1996-97, 1998-99, 2006-07, 1990-94: Assistant Coach, Georgia Tech 2009-10) and the C-USA tournament title on five occasions (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2010). 1994-Present: Head Coach, Tulane Stockton is one of four active coaches to take a Top 60 academic institution as listed in U.S. News and World Report to at least 11 NCAA Tournaments - joining Tara Vanderveer of Stanford, Muffet Year-by-Year Record as a College Head Coach McGraw of Notre Dame and Sylvia Hatchell of North Carolina.
