    VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE AND A DEMAND FOR THE IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF THE ENTIRE MISS AMERICA BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND PRESIDENT/CEO We, the undersigned state licensees of the Miss America Organization (MAO), represent all areas of the United States, decades of leadership, and innumerable contributions to the legacy of the Miss America Organization at every level. As dedicated members of our state and local communities who lend our reputations, financial support, and voluntary efforts to facilitate MAO’s long and powerful mission of empowering women to stand up and speak out, we find ourselves needing to use our own voices of leadership to express our profound disappointment regarding what, in our view, is the failed leadership of the entire MAO Board of Trustees led by Ms. Gretchen Carlson as its Chair and Ms. Regina Hopper as its President and CEO. The recent ouster of two duly elected Trustees, followed by the resignations of two elected Miss Americas from the nine-member Board, have underscored our grave concerns regarding the direction in which MAO is headed, its financial viability, and the expected exercise of all duties attendant to each Trustee as required by law. We were promised transparency, competence, and adherence to best practices and good governance. The current Trustees and identified staff member have both individually and collectively failed to deliver on those promises and commitments. In our opinion their leadership has demonstrated that “Miss America 2.0” is simply a new title for the same old tactics of obfuscation and fear-based governance. THEREFORE, we the undersigned state licensees expressly declare NO CONFIDENCE IN THE ENTIRE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND THE PRESIDENT/CEO.

    MISS OKLAHOMA USA, OLIVIA JORDAN, WINS THE MISS USA 2015 TITLE DURING THE LIVE REELZ CHANNEL TELECAST FROM BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Baton Rouge, LA – July 12, 2015 – This evening, a panel of former Miss Universe Organization titleholders chose Miss Oklahoma USA, Olivia Jordan, as Miss USA 2015. Emmy Award-winning game show host Todd Newton and former Miss Wisconsin USA 2009 Alex Wehrley hosted the competition. OK! TV’s Julie Alexandria provided backstage behind-the-scenes commentary from the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Olivia Jordan, a 26-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has appeared in several national/international commercials and feature films. Olivia is a graduate of Boston University, where she earned a degree in health science. As a model, Olivia has walked for Sherri Hill in New York Fashion Week 2015 and the runway at Miami Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014. She has also been featured in Cosmopolitan, Shape and Vogue Japan. Olivia has been recognized by Children of the Night, a group dedicated to getting children out of prostitution, for her work with the organization. I had lived all my life on a small struggling farm near McCune, Kansas, population of around 400, and I was poised to follow the four older of my several siblings to become a first-generation high school student.     Our Various States of BeAuty By Watsuki HarrinGTON WHY WE LIKE IT: A classroom assignment that turns out to be something more. We like the way the author wittily contrasts geographical states with the psychological and emotional states of 52 women in a fictional beauty pageant. At the same time, the Misses are depersonalized by an innovative format that simply lists the wryly observed and fascinating trivia in their cameos like so much dependent property—the point being, within beauty lies its opposite. The voice is appropriately impartial, cleverly ironic and a little bit foxy. We were intrigued as soon as we started reading but when we learned how the author enlisted tek to design the structure of this hybrid, we liked it even more. We don’t know how her prof graded this assignment, but in our classroom we give it… Five stars. (Spacing and format is author’s own.) Our Various States of Beauty 1. Miss Wyoming thinks that since she had to look up the word pustule that makes her one of the attractive ones, which is bizarre, because she’s had to look up other things like “statute of limitations for drug trafficking,” and “how to get a free abortion in a state that doesn’t take your insurance.” 2. Miss Michigan wants to open a bakery with a gym in the back so she has a steady stream of clients. She’s unsure about the name but thinks “It’s a Bakery and a Gym” is a pretty good contender. 3. Miss Oklahoma knows that even though a woman wants to look sexy, it doesn’t mean she wants to have sex.
