Proposal for Regional Exploration (G-4 level) for PGE Mineralization in Pathri-Saoli Area (Block ID-CR-MH-04) in an area of 100 Sq. Km., District: , ()

1.0.0 Introduction: 1.1.1 The country is deficient in the Platinum Group of Elements (Ruthenium, Rhodium, Palladium, Osmium, Iridium and Platinum). In mostly the demand is met through imports. The increasing demand of Platinum Group of Elements has been warranted detailed exploration in very high priority in the XIIth Plan document. 1.1.2 Till now no large deposits of PGE group of minerals has been discovered in India. However, the possibility of working of small mineral bodies in proximity to each other, through technological advances and increased operational efficiency, cannot be ruled out. Therefore, it is necessary to locate and explore such small size deposits in clusters. As PGE group of minerals along with Chromium are associated with ultramafics, these rock types are to be explored for their presence in detail throughout the country. 1.1.3 In view of the MMDR amendments act – 2015, Mineral (Evidence of Mineral Contents) Rule 2015 and Mineral Auction Rule – 2015, Ministry of mines, GSI identified the block for exploration & MECL decided to take up the block for G-4 level of exploration under NMET funding. MECL requested Ministry of Mines, Government of India to reserve the block to carry regional exploration. 1.1.4 Ministry of Mines, Government of India allotted 30 Regional Mineral Exploration Blocks for G-4 exploration from the 100 Reports handed over by GSI to MoM. The Regional Exploration for PGE Mineralisation in Pathri- Saoli Area (Block Id –CR-MH-04), District- Chandrapur, Maharashtra is one of the block allotted to MECL. Accordingly MECL prepared proposal for regional exploration and being put up for approval of Technical Committee of NMET. 1.2.0 Location of the Block: 1.2.1 The south western corner of the block is 8 km from the Tehsil town Mul of . The district township Chandrapur is 50 km from the block. The Saoli town is at the southern boundary of the block. The state highway Chandrapur-Gadchiroli via Mul passes through the southern portion of the block. The block area is well traversed by village Road Network. The Pathri town is 6 km north of the northern block boundary. The block is located in the survey of India Toposheet No. 55 P/16. The Co-ordinates of the corner points of the block are given below and covers an area of nearly 100 sq.km.
