Remembering the journey to get there adds perspective to better appreciate the accomplishments of Team Canada at the 2013World Cup. Case in point, Canada won bronze the very first year the World Cup was held in 1982, but it took 27 more years for our World Cup team to make it to the podium again. For all but one of those World Cup years, we played in the bronze medal game, and more often than not, against England ... a team we just could not seem to break. At the 2009 World Cup, we finally had that breakthrough and defeated England in both the round robin and medal round. This year, 2013, after beating them again in round robin, one of the alumni made the comment that there were now players on this team who had never known a time when we didn't beat England.
