Secularisation and Ecumenism as Challenges “Secularisation” is a concept that is used in many different ways. By secularisation one may, for example, mean a process through which the state ceases to legislate on the basis of religious faith and instead does so on the basis of what is commonly acknowledged. Or a process through which the state ceases to grant special privileges to religious bodies and stops supporting for instance religion ‑based education. Or a pro‑ cess meaning that people cease to hold religious beliefs and uphold reli‑ gious practices. Or transfer of properties from religious or ecclesiastical to civil possession. Or a change meaning that society is no longer under the control of religion. If secularisation means that a society frees itself from coercion or even tyranny of religion over the conscience of individuals, then secu‑ larisation must be valued positively from a Christian point of view. Suggested Statutes for the X-Church
SUGGESTED STATUTES FOR THE X-CHURCH § 1 X-CHURCH 1. The X-CHURCH is a Christian denomination, a community of local churches and a fellowship of people confessing Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. The congregations of the X- CHURCH have united in agreement with the Basic Document of the X-CHURCH. 2. The X-CHURCH is created by The Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in Sweden, formerly the Methodist-Episcopal Church in Sweden, the Baptist Union of Sweden, and the congregations within the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden. 3. The Church Conference has established the Basic Document for the X-CHURCH which describes its identity, mission and ministry and is main line for teaching and preaching. The Basic Document consists of Theological Foundation and Statutes for the X-CHURCH. § 2 CONGREGATIONS IN THE X-CHURCH 1. Admission to the X-CHURCH can be granted to a congregation upon application. The application that is sent to the Church Board should be made in written form and should contain all data about the statutes of the congregation wherein the congregation shall state their agreement with and adoption of the contents of The Basic Document of the X-CHURCH, the number of members, the name of the Senior Pastor, and the name of its Chair person. The resolution concerning admission is passed by the Church Conference according to the recommendations of the Church Board. 2. The X-CHURCH also welcomes any congregation that belongs to one or more other denominations. Under the Basic Document of the X-CHURCH, these congregations, in consultation with the Church Leader and Assistant Church Leader, may seek ecumenical solutions for congregational order and governing statutes. -

Many people recognise these words as the end of the exhortation, “Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”. The Sami and the Church of Sweden
T D ANIEL his book presents results from a white paper project on the historical HE relations between the established Evangelical Lutheran Church of Swe- S AMI AND AND AMI den and the indigenous Sami people. The research project, which was L INDMARK & Tlaunched in November 2012 and concluded in February 2017, was funded by the Church of Sweden Research Department and hosted by Umeå University. It was THE SAMI AND set up following an explicit request by representatives of the Sami community made at a hearing in 2011.
