Through Bob, Kent met a young Director/Designer/Actor/Animator, Terry Gilliam, and a near 40 year collaboration began with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In 1976 Kent and Gilliam founded the Peerless Camera Company. Peerless soon became a leading visual effects house and was the first European company to offer Flame and Inferno. A further collaboration with Gilliam was acquiring part-ownership of the Computer Film Company, a business which became a world leader in digital image manipulation for the film industry, responsible for designing amongst other things, the Northlight film scanner and Keylight compositing software. His CFC interest was eventually sold and the Computer Film Company was historically purchased by Framestore. Kent continues to oversee a thriving Peerless Camera Company (www.peerless.co.uk) while additionally working as a freelance Visual Effects Supervisor. • End of Header. Mandalay's on Par for 20-Film Deal
Page 1 1094 of 1783 DOCUMENTS The Hollywood Reporter March 10, 1998 Header: End of Header. Mandalay's on Par for 20-film deal BYLINE: Josh Chetwynd LENGTH: 817 words Mandalay Pictures, a newly formed entity created by Peter Guber and Canada's Lions Gate Entertainment, has signed a five-year deal with Paramount Pictures to develop and produce 20 pictures for distribution by the studio. The deal, which had been expected, creates a company that effectively replaces Guber's Sony-based Mandalay Entertainment, the company he formed when he exited his post as chairman of the studio in 1994 (HR 3/9). Mandalay Entertainment will cease to exist once the new company kicks off when Guber's deal with Sony ends. Sources said Guber has negotiated an early end to the deal, which was to conclude in 2000. The company has six films left to come out with Sony, the last release due in November. The new deal closes any speculation that Mandalay would move to Warner Bros., Guber's former home as a producer. Guber, Mandalay Entertainment vice chairman Paul Schaeffer and president Adam Platnick will own Mandalay Pictures along with LG Pictures, a subsidiary of Lions Gate Entertainment, a publicly held company. Mandalay in 1997 sold its television operations to Lions Gate. Mandalay Pictures will be based on the Paramount lot, and it is unclear what Sony plans to do with Mandalay Entertainment's lavish offices. The new company's total production slate is valued at more than $800 million over the five years. Under the terms of the deal, Paramount will market and distribute all of Mandalay's feature films _ except in seven territories where Mandalay has pre-existing deals: Constantine/KirchGroup (Germany), Entertainment Film (United Kingdom), Cecchi Gori (Italy), Village Roadshow (Australia and Greece) and soon-to-be announced partners in France and Japan.

  • Sasha Knezev, Resume
Sasha Knezev (Serbian Cyrillic: Саша Кнежев), is a Serbian American filmmaker and author. He has written, produced and directed feature films, short films, commercials, and has authored a book on Eastern European film titled Through the Western Lens, that was published in Europe.[1] Knezev is the son of Serbian immigrants from Šabac, Serbia, a cultural and iconic city in the former Yugoslavia that was a breeding ground for artists, musicians and writers. Knezev's grandfather Milan was a theatrical actor, his father a singer and mother an art and set-designer. Born in Los Angeles, Knezev grew up in San Pedro, Los Angeles, a tough blue-collar town within Los Angeles County where many emigrants from the former Yugoslavia settled. Though San Pedro is mostly Croatian, at the time of Knezev's upbringing his generation simply referred to themselves as "Yugoslavs". The Port of Los Angeles served as a setting for many of Knezev's character while a young writer. Knezev attended the School of Cinematic Arts[2] with a BA and MA in Critical Studies, with an emphasis in Eastern European Cinema and American Modernity films of the 1970s. Filmography The war divided many friendships in San Pedro and served as the basis for Knezev's first feature film Welcome To San Pedro (2000). Shot with no-budget and in a docudrama format, the film was stylistically devised as both a documentary and autobiography. The narrative was written with this in mind as Knezev wanted to cast Serbians and Croatians to let out their emotions, frustrations and grievances towards the other side on camera.
