PLASMA DONOR COVID -19 CAMP The main intention of the camp was to save the people suffering from Covid-19. Camp at Sur-Jamath, Ranipet, Mr.Basha camp organizer. Totally 13 sample were collected and refereed to Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Chennai. BLOOD GROUPING 1-person Blood grouping was done at IRCS-TNB, Blood Centre. COMPONENT SEPARATION UNIT: In our Blood Centre, Blood components like whole human blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma and platelet concentrate were separated with sophisticated modern equipment’s and supplied to various hospitals and nursing homes based on their requisition.

ARTIFICIAL LIMB CENTRE The Artificial Limb Centre is rendering services to various Prosthesis and Orthotic services and providing free aides to the disabled community during Oct to Nov 2020. When amputees access to our Centre, more options are available, ranging from limbs to parts of limbs made with sophisticated Technology. In spite of challenges like, availability of materials, resources and skilled Professional, our centre is providing Mobility Aids to the downtrodden community in order to enhance their social status and also to gain self confidence in their life.

PHYSIOTHERAPY & FITNESS CENTRE The Centre treated 1079 cases during the month of Oct and Nov 2020. Many common Orthopaedic problems, like, Back Pain, Neck pain, Shoulder pain and various Sports Injuries were treated here; as well as Neurological patients, like, Stroke Patients, Head injury, Cerebral palsy, Mentally Retarded children have also been provided requisite treatment.

URBAN FAMILY WELFARE CENTRE

Urban Family Welfare Centre a Project of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Board (through Director of Family Welfare) is administered by IRCS TNB. The Centre is functioning at , Chennai with a view to promote Family Planning, Nutritional Care for Mothers and Children, Immunization, Personal Hygiene and ante-natal care to the slum community exists in and around Chintadripet.

NURSE AIDE

During October 2020 Eighth Batch of Vocational Diploma in General Duty Assistant students attended the Blood Donation Camp which was held on 09.10.2020 at Collector Office, Ranipet.

During September 2020, 20 students of Vocational Diploma in General Duty Assistant have appeared for the final terminal examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Open University and secured 100 Percentage result and all the students have been placed in the various hospitals around Chennai.

During October 2020, 10 students enrolled for the Nurse Aide Vocational Diploma in General Duty Assistant (VDGD) course affiliated to Tamil Nadu Open University for the Academic Year 2020 to 2021. The Classes for the Seventh Batch students were also commenced from October 2020 at Red Cross Premises. Admission for the Vocational Diploma in General Duty has been extended upto 31st December 2020. Syllabus was also given to the students viz, Life Scoping Skills, Communications Skills, Fundamental of Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Practical for Nursing procedure.

YOUTH RED CROSS

The YRC unit of Jairam Arts and Science College, Salem organized the YRC Orientation Programme (Google Meet) on 23.10.2020. Dr. A. Arumugam, Principal, Jain Arts and Science College, Salem delivered Welcome Address, Dr. P. Vadivel, YRC District Organizer, Salem delivered special address and briefed about the Awareness of Covid-19 and First Aid. Dr. M. The YRC unit of Auxilium College of Arts and Science for Women, Regunthapuram organized “Red Cross Quiz” through online on 26.10.2020. The Quiz consists of 15 Multiple Choice Questions on their General Knowledge about Red Cross Movement and 223 participants were participated in this programme. The E-Certificates were distributed to the participants. The Colleges students attended online classes, the YRC activities in their ambient like terrace gardening, Bio degradable waste recycling, plastic eradication, herbal plantation which would help[p the healthy living. Hospital, Jayankondam was the resource person and explained about precautions to be followed during Covid pandemic, Safety measures to be taken on Covid19 and briefed about treatment for Corona patient, YOUTH AWAKENING DAY The YRC unit of Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women, Chennai organized the Quiz, Oratorical Competition (Tamil), Drawing, Slogan Writing and Essay writing (Tamil) Competitions on the eve of 89th Birth Anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 15.10.2020 in virtual Platform and Google meet. Nearly 199 Students were participated enthusiastically in the Programme and online E- Certificates were given to the winners of the Competitions.

The YRC unit of D.R.B.C.C.C. Hindu College, celebrated the birthday of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Birthday as Youth Awakening Day” by the Tamil Nadu Government on 15.10.2020. Prof. K. The YRC unit of GSS Jain College for Women, Chennai organized the First Aid Training Programme on 16.10.2020. Dr. T. Visalatchi, YRC Programme Officer, GSS Jain College for Women organized this Programme. Mr. N. Subramanian, First Aid Lecturer, St. John’s Ambulance, Chennai is conducted the programme and brief detail about First Aid to the Youth, especially the College Students provides them with essential Skills that can be Saving Life.He explained about How to carry out First Aid Treatment in case of emergency till the patient taken to the Doctor and “Health & Safety” are two importance aspects of our lives. The Students were cooperative and interactive with the guest during the session. Around 100 YRC unit members attended and benefitted by this session. One Day Disaster Management and First Aid Training to First Responders Team of Valliyoor Town panchayat was conducted On 10.10.2020 at Block Office, Valliyoor, . 60 volunteers from various villages participated. The program was inaugurated by Project Officer, Tamilnadu State Rural Livelihood Movement, Valliyoor Town Panchayat, Tirunelveli District. Mr. R. Blithe Sudhar, DM / FA Training-cum Field Co-ordinator was the Resource person and explained about the topics of Rope and Knots Techniques, Victim Transportation, Bandaging Techniques, CPR in First Aid, recover from Unconscious etc..

This Program was organized and coordinated by Thiru. Sabesan, Secretary, IRCS Nanguneri Sub Branch, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Valliyoor. Participation Certificates were distributed to the participants.

The YRC unit of Holy Cross Home Science College, Tuticorin organized the Disaster Management Awareness Programme through online on 13.10.2020. Thiru. Vanniyaraja, Secretary, IRCS, Tuticorin District inaugurated the Programme. Mr. R. Blithe Sudhar, DM / FA Training-cum Field Co-ordinator was Resource person and explained about Psychological issues to the Disaster victims and how to handle them during Disaster. The YRC Volunteers participated. AWARENESS ON FIRST AID:- First aid awareness program to volunteers of Tirunelveli was conducted through Online on 13.10.2020. This program was organized by Reliance Foundation (Ltd), District Disaster Management Authority of Tirunelveli District and IRCS Nanguneri Sub District Branch. They

Page 14 of 51 were discussed about Volunteerism, Covid 19 field activities of Tamilnadu Government and First Aid during Emergencies. Finally discussed about collaboration of Service programs with IRCS Nanguneri Branch with Reliance Foundation in future.

AWARENESS ON BLOOD DONATION The YRC unit of Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Arts and Science College for Women, Chennai created importance of Blood Donation Video on Awareness of “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day” on 01.10.2020 and uploaded in college official YouTube Channel.

The YRC unit of A.D.M. College for Women (A), Nagapattinam organized a District Level Webinar on “Blood Donation Awareness” Programme on 28.10.2020 through Google Meet. Dr. G. V. Pandian, YRC District Organizer, Nagapattinam District delivered Welcome Address, Dr. R. Anbuselvi, Principal (i/c), delivered Inaugural Address and motivated the students to do social service and involve themselves in the service activities. Dr. K. Vetrivel, YRC Zonal Co-ordinator, Bharathidasan University, Trichy delivered Presidential Address. He enlightened the origin and functioning of Red Cross activities at various levels ad explained the importance of Blood Donation to the YRC Volunteers. Dr. N Sivakumar, Chief Civil Surgeon, GH – Mayiladuthurai delivered the special address and encouraged the volunteers. Blood donation in this pandemic. Faculties and YRC Volunteers from A.D.M. The YRC unit of Sarah Tucker College (A), Tirunelveli organized World Diabetes Day on 14.11.2020, to raise awareness about the impact of diabetes disease, its prevention and education of diabetes. To bring awareness among the YRC students about healthy diet, an Interdepartmental cooking completion was held on “Diabetes Control dishes”. AWARENESS OF COVID -19 The YRC unit of Sarah Tucker College (A), Tirunelveli organized Safety Measures – Covid-19. In the Pandemic Situation with the spread of the virus in India is stable and some of the precautionary measurers have been eased with the lifting of the state of emergency, a number of restrictions must still be observed. So an interdepartmental poster competition was held on 26.11.2020 in order to bring more awareness.

AWARENESS ON POLLUTION& SAVE ENVIRONMENT:- The YRC unit of Vellalar College for Women (A), Erode organized “Awareness on Pollution Free Deepavalli” on 13.11.2020 through Whatsapp mode as per instruction form the . An Awareness was created among the students about the tremendous air pollution caused due to bursting of crackers by sharing short audio visuals through Whatsapp. The Students along with Staff Members took a pledge of making this a victory of green over evil of pollution.

WARENESS ON WORLD IMMUNIZATION DAY:- The YRC unit of SSS Shasun Jain College for Women, Chennai organized the Awareness of Immunization Day on 10.11.2020. Dr. Major R. S. Rengan, Senior Consultant Laparoscopic and General Surgeon at Apollo First Med Hospital was the Chief Guest and explained about the importance & necessity of Immunizations. 102 - FREE DROP BACK SERVICE

Government of India launched Janani Sishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) to be implemented nationally where all the pregnant women offering for delivery at Health Institutions and treated sick new born up to one year will get free transport service. To implement this Scheme as a Pilot Project covering all the major Obstetrics & Gynaecology Women & Children Hospitals at Chennai, Government of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, decided and engaged the services of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch for implementation of this Project. Around 15 vehicles will be provided for operation. New Initiative of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch.

On 1st November 2013, Government of Tamil Nadu have established Mother Drop Back Vehicle Project (JSSK) in the State on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode through the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch. To start with, though meagre, 5 Drop Back Vehicles were put into services for implementation of the DBV in Chennai.

48306 Mothers with babies were transported by Drop Back vehicles during the month of Oct’20 to Nov’20 from various Government Maternity Hospitals to the home. The cumulative figures of Mothers with babies transported right from the inception are904427Mothers with Babies as on 30thNov’2020.

MENTAL HEALTH RETRIEVAL VEHICLE The Project Director, Tamil Nadu Health System Project, Chennai has ordered that free transport service to transport mentally ill patients to the Govt. Health Facilities through JSSK vehicle for 104 Helpline may be used for this ambulatory service. The list of JSSK vehicles allotted in each District for free transport service to transport mentally ill patients to the Government Hospital / Rehabilitation Homes. The following procedures should be followed: 1. One JSSK vehicle to be used for mentally ill patients transportation when they require. 2. Only on receipt of information received from 104 Call Centre, the Driver of JSSK should take the allotted JSSK vehicle only for the purpose of transporting mentally ill patients from spot to Government Hospital/Rehabilitation Homes. 3. The JSSK Driver should time and again inform the movement of vehicle and the case details to 102 Call Centre.

155377 - FREE HEARSE SERVICE

All the vehicles allotted for Free Hearse Service were on road and were utilized cent percent for the transportation of deceased to various places in Tamil Nadu. 22683 corpses were transported by 214 Free Hearse Mortuary Vans during the month of Oct’20 to Nov’20 from various Government Medical Teaching and Non Teaching Institutions to the native places of the deceased at the request of their relatives in all 32 Districts of Tamil Nadu. The cumulative figures of bodies transported right from the inception are 835204corpses as on Nov’2020.

Our services are also extended in the Taluk and Non Taluk Hospitals and Primary Health Centres of all the 37 Districts.

Now our services are also included for transportation of Corpses from the death spot to Hospitals for post-mortem with the help of crime report received from the Police Department.
