Amazônia Brasil in New York inaugurates the exhibition “The Amazon Forest & Climate” The exhibition, at the UN Hall from July 10 to August 6, presents the important role Amazonia plays in climate Amazônia Brasil in NY Cultural Program presents itʼs main event, “The Amazon Forest & Climate”. As one of the most important Brazilian initiatives on the region, the exhibition will be held at the UN Hall in New York (USA) from July 10th to August 6th. In addition to the exhibition “Amazônia Brasil” , held at Pier 17 until June 22, the program also includes two exhibits that run until July 13th: Amazônia Design – Fashion and Sustainable Economy”, at the Financial Center Courtyard Gallery, and the photography exhibit “Guardians of the Forest” at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. The exhibition, sponsored by Petrobras, is comprised of small scale models, animation and panels that will help viewers understand the role Amazonia plays in the global carbon and humidity cycle, and the global warming impacts caused by the regionʼs unbalance. Support is provided by The National Institute for Research of the Amazon (INPA), Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA); scientific support by Antônio Donato and the art director is Ary Perez. This is the eigth edition of Amazônia Brasil Cultural Program and is put on by the Health and Happiness Project (PSA) and the Amazonian Working Group (GTA), that has over 600 affiliated organizations in the Brazilian Amazon. The executive direction is by FareArte, a Brazilian-based organization. The Program is affiliated to national and international organizations such as the Goeldi Museum in the State of Pará, the National Institute for Amazonian Research the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. Support is also provided by the Ministry of Environment, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Cultural Relations, the Brazilian Embassy in New York, the Brazilian Consulate in New York and the Brazilian Mission at the United Nations. Amazônia Brasil in NY Cultural Program is sponsored by Petrobras, Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation with the collaboration of IBM, Natura, Apex, Havaianas and the American Express Foundation.
