Casse, who has won the Selene a total of seven times, has teamed with Husbands to take four editions of the race. They combined for past wins with Dark Ending (2001), Dixie Strike (2012) and Miss Mo Mentum (2018). Casse, who is a Hall of Fame member in both Canada and the United States, also trains Souper Sensational. California Lily broke quickly from post two in the Selene and went right to the front while Our Flash Drive started a bit slower from post three. However, Our Flash Drive and jockey Patrick Husbands quickly hustled up to challenge the leader as they went around the clubhouse turn. California Lily and Our Flash Drive finished the first quarter-mile in :24.78 before the former began to extend her lead to a length down the backstretch to finish the half-mile in :49.03 as Our Flash Drive continued to stalk in second. As they went around the far Charlotte Weber/GOINS PHOTO turn, Husbands cued Our Flash Drive to challenge for the lead and she responded with a two-wide move to draw even with California Lily while they completed six furlongs in 1:12.87. But Our Flash Drive continued her momentum and rolled to a clear lead turning for home as Munnyfor Ro took second after a slow start while Sweet Souper Sweet continued in third. Our Flash Drive drew off down the stretch under a hand ride from Husbands and finished in 1:44.69 on the fast track with Munnyfor Ro finishing second, two-and-a-quarter lengths clear of Sweet Souper Sweet in third. California Lily was fourth followed by Gote Go and Danger. Il Malocchio was scratched. Our Flash Drive returned $4.70 to win. Making only her fourth career start in the Selene, Our Flash Drive was coming off of her first career win when she defeated special weight maidens by three-and-three-quarters lengths going seven furlongs on Woodbine’s synthetic surface on June 19 in her first start of the year. Last year, the bay filly finished seventh and fourth in two tries in maiden special weights at Saratoga in July and August. Our Flash Drive is by Ghostzapper out of Dynamotor, by Dy- naformer and the US$72,312 first-place check increased her career bottom line to $110,744. Our Flash Drive is the first foal from Dyamotor. She also has an unraced, 2-year-old colt named Engine’s Ready by Hard Spun, an unnamed yearling filly who is a full-sister to Our Flash Drive and a weanling filly by Omaha Beach. Souper Sensational Is Just That in Victory Ride At Belmont, Souper Sensational rallied to an impressive score in the $150,000 Victory Ride, a six-and-a-half-furlong sprint for sophomore fillies. Miss Brazil set a contested pace of :22.81 and :45.68 on the main track rated good, with Ova Charged on her flank and Red Ghost outside of that one as Souper Sensational settled in fifth. Ova Charged loomed large but Souper Sensation, rallying wide outside of rivals, found her best foot through the turn and was a length-and-a-half clear at the stretch call. A game Ova Charged continued to find more, but there was no reeling in the runaway Souper Sensational, who stopped the clock in 1:15.79. Prat, aboard Souper Sensational for the first time, said the tal- ented chestnut provided an immediate response when asked. “She was traveling well and when I got her in the clear, she re- ally kicked on well,” Prat said. “It didn’t feel like we were going crazy fast. I thought she broke well. I bided my time and got off to a nice rhythm. In the end, she really responded.” Ova Charged, with Luis Saez up, completed the exacta by two lengths over Inject. Red Ghost, Miss Brazil and the previously un- defeated Australasia completed the order of finish. Bella Sofia and Shop Girl were scratched. Bred in Kentucky by Newtownanner Stud, Souper Sensational banked $82,500 in victory. She returned $13.80 for a $2 win wager. The victory marked the first graded stakes win for Souper Sen- sational, who turned back in distance in the Victory Ride off a trio of Grade 2 efforts.
