Morgan, late President of The Principia and one of its original students. A son of Principia's founder, Mary Kimball Morgan, he faithfully served the school in many capacities, including that of Headmaster of the Upper School, Senior Vice President in charge of the Upper and Lower School Building Project, and President and Trustee of The Principia. As inspired educator, able administrator, and loving friend, "Mr. Billy" has won a peimanent place in the hearts of Principia's faculty, staff and students. 4 ^ #r FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION Scratch the green rind of a sapling, or wantonly twist it in the soil, and a scarred or crooked oak will tell of the act for centuries to come. So it is with the teaching of youth, which make impres sions on the mind and heart that are to last for ever. The highest function of the teacher consists not so much in imparting knowledge as in stimulating the pupil in its love and pursuit. To know how to suggest is the art of teaching. OUR CLASS HISTORY We were the freshmen, the plebes then — but it was a good year. For most of us the football games and campus ology were new, and as far as those two things went, it was a good year. But those classroom capers we cut! Poor Misses Kessler and Gehring, not to mention our patient language and math teachers. How many class parties did we have that year? Those days are gone forever. Oh-h-h, those inevitable trips to Henry's. And remember how big those Seniors looked? Hmmmmm. Most of us came back the next year to find that our class had nearly doubled. Or so it seemed. Football games and campusology were old hat, but Civ wasn't. How many of us made it through all of Henry VIII's wives remains to be seen. Hats off to Miss Eareckson and Miss Laufenburg for a brave battle. What with Cleopatra, Elizabeth, and Joan of Arc, it was worth it. Wasn't it, boys? Such beautiful girls! And how many times did we lose our "break privi leges"? Somehow, the Seniors didn't seem quite so big. The next year was the year of the changes. We were B.M.O.C.'s — and upperclassmen to boot! Hooray — we made it! What new vistas this opened up to us. Senior proms, flowers, library study halls. Wheel And, of course, Mr. Fisher and Mr. Edwards. The girls got a new dean, too — Welcome, Mrs. P. And we all changed campuses. All right, so we weren't going to the first graduating class out here. At least we got there. We are the first whole-year graduating class. That's something. Then, all of a sudden, many of us were elected into Senior's offices. Gosh, those Seniors looked small! "We are the Seniors, the mighty mighty Seniors ..." We are the top men on the totem pole, and the under classmen are the untried, unwise, unconditioned. We look at the world with new eyes, and we remember how up standing and conservative we must be now. Set the ex ample, you know. We have had our last high school foot ball season, our last round of campusologies, our last high school proms and class parties. But we'll remember them . always. The friends, the teachers, the housemoms and housepops, the deans, everything. And now that it's all over, we can look back and then say, "We made it!"
