NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR Election for the Newport East Constituency

1. An election is to be held for a member to serve in the National Assembly for Wales for the Newport East Constituency. 2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Local Returning Officer at Room 527a, Civic Centre, Newport, South Wales, between the hours of 10:00 and 16:00 on any working day (Monday to Friday) from the date of this notice, but not later than 16:00 on Thursday, 7th APRIL, 2016. Candidate’s deposits (£500) will be accepted by cash or bankers draft, drawn against a High Street Bank. 3. Nomination papers may be obtained at the place and times mentioned above. The Returning Officer will, at the request of any individual, prepare a nomination paper for signature. 4. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 5th May, 2016. 5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 24:00 on Monday 18 th April 2016. 6. Electors and their proxies should take notice that all applications for new postal votes, postal proxy votes and amendments or cancellations to existing postal and proxy votes, must reach the Electoral Registration Office below, by 17:00 on Tuesday, 19 th APRIL, 2016 . This includes electors or their proxies who wish to make alterations to their existing arrangements on a permanent basis. 7. New applications to appoint a proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Office below by 17:00 on Tuesday, 26 th APRIL, 2016 . 8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 17:00 on 5th May 2016 . The physical incapacity must have occurred after 17:00 on Tuesday 26 th April 2016 . To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 17:00 on Tuesday 26 th April 2016 .
