FC BARCELONA Futbol Club Barcelona also known as FC Barcelona and familiarly as Barça, is a professional football club, based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Catalan footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto "Més que un club" (More than a club). It is the world's second-richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €398 million (2011). The unique feature of the club is that unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. Jack Greenwell was the first fulltime club manager from 1917 to 1924 under which club grabbed 6 tournament honors. -

TECHNICAL REPORT 2008/09 Title in Arial bold 22 pt Subtitle in Arial regular 14 pt ENGLISH SECTION PARTIE FRANÇAISE DEUTSCHER TEIL STATISTICS PHOTO: POTTS / PA WIRE / PA IMAGES TECHNICAL REPOrt This report has been published as a record of the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League, which was the competition’s seventeenth season. In addition to the factual and statistical data that make it a valuable reference work, it contains analysis, reflections and debating points which, it is hoped, will give technicians food for thought and, by highlighting tendencies and trends at the peak of professional football, also offer coaches who are active at the development levels of the game information that may be helpful in terms of working on the qualities which will be needed by the UEFA Champions League performers of the future. Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand can only watch as Lionel Messi jumps just far enough upwards and backwards to deliver the looping header which put FC Barcelona 2-0 up in the 70th minute of the final in Rome. THE ROADS THAT LED TO ROME Distance is meant to lend perspective, but it can also blur the vision. The fact that the neutrals who, when the group stage kicked off in September, predicted a Manchester United v Barcelona final were watching it just over eight months later gives the impression that the 124-match pilgrimage to Rome had been a relentless march towards a foregone conclusion. That was by no means the case. It is easy to forget that FC Barcelona won only half of their home games, or that they were being counted out during the final seconds of their heavyweight semi-final contest with Chelsea – only for Andrés Iniesta to produce the stunning drive which earned a trip to Rome. -
AC MILAN V FC BARCELONA
Matchday Three Milan 20 October 2004 AC MILAN – FC BARCELONA STADIO GIUSEPPE MEAZZA, MILAN WEDNESDAY 20 OCTOBER 2004 at 20.45 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP F, MATCHDAY 3 AC MILAN v FC BARCELONA After the thrilling game against Celtic FC, resolved in AC Milan’s favour by two late goals, UEFA Champions League football returns to San Siro with an exciting clash between two former champions of Europe and the two teams who met in the 1994 final in Athens. Both are among the seven clubs who have opened their campaign with maximum points from two matches and the Group F table might suggest that they hold a comfortable advantage over their adversaries. However, while the two former champions are trying to take points from each other, the other Group F participants will be trying to make up ground and mount a serious challenge to the favourites. The fans are promised two epic confrontations between two of Europe’s most experienced campaigners and this match will be a special occasion for Frank Rijkaard, who after a successful playing career with AC Milan, returns to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as the head coach of FC Barcelona. Bearing in mind that the two clubs have jointly played 635 European matches and 301 in the continent’s premier competition, it’s surprising that they’ve met only four times and that they had a spell of 30 years from 1959 to 1989 without crossing paths. In the UEFA Champions League, this is only the second time that they have met on a home-and-away basis apart from the 1994 final in Athens, when Fabio Capello’s AC Milan beat Johan Cruyff’s FC Barcelona 4-0. -

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} A Boy in Barcelona by R.W. Mitchell 20 Must-Read Books Set in Spain by Spanish Authors. It’s always been the case that when I travel, I like to read novels that are region-specific. That’s been true for a long time; but in the last few years, as I became more aware of the lack of translated literature and the need to read more diversely, I made my plan even more particular. Now, when I travel somewhere, I want to read books not only set in the place, but written by someone who lived or was from there, preferably translated from the original language. Photograph of Leah Rachel von Essen in Barcelona, by Oscar Mills, used with permission. So when I went to Mexico City from Chicago, I read Caramelo by Sandra Cisneros; when I went to England, I read Jane Austen. And when I went to Spain, I dug deep into lists of Spanish authors, of books to read before, during, and after my trip that were written by Spanish authors and were set in Spain. I included books written in Catalan and Galician, as they are important national identities of regions that have also pushed for independence. I should note that I attempted to make my list inclusive of authors of color, but struggled to find translated non-white authors writing in Spain. If you have recommendations, please share them with me on Twitter—I would love to hear them! It’s also worth noting that there are many fantastic authors and novels out there that I would have loved to dig into on my trip and on this list, but that are still untranslated, highlighting once again the importance of an international outlook for our reading lists. -
