AFL (NSW/ACT) Regional Championships

The 2008 AFL (NSW/ACT) Regional Championships are being held on the June long weekend. This will see 12 Leagues across NSW and ACT converge on Wagga Wagga to play representative football at the highest level. The community is highly anticipating this event.

2008 also marks 150 Years of Australian Football and these Championships will be the perfect platform to celebrate grass roots football across NSW and the ACT.

2 2008 Regional Championships Information Guide Accommodation/Host Clubs Each league has been assigned accommodation and a host club below. It is up to each league to contact their assigned host club and accommodation to work out particulars. Leagues have been provided accommodation for 30 people with breakfast included:

Host clubs from the Riverina and Farrer Football clubs have kindly donated their services to leagues traveling to the Championships. Clubs will provide training facilities for your team, a meal for you on the Friday night (cost to be negotiated between league and club), ice for all games, laundry to wash your guernseys and trainers and water runners for all games.

4 2008 Regional Championships Information Guide Uniform Orders As part of AFL NSW/ACT’s agreement with Platinum Sponsor, Cougar Sportswear, it has been agreed that all leagues attending will receive a free set of guernseys, shorts and socks. All guernseys will have the 150 years of football logo displayed on them. Please send through images of your uniform, including your league’s logo and sizes through to Chris Mintern (via email- [email protected] ) by 30 th April . Once they are all received, a bulk order will be sent to Cougar Sportswear. As Cougar are actively supporting us in providing your league’s playing strip, I encourage you to contact them to order your off-field clothing also. Food/Beverages On the Friday evening your host club will provide you with a meal for a pre-arranged cost at their clubrooms. Through our Sponsorship arrangement with Subway(see below), we will be providing all squads(including coaching staff) with subway rolls and drinks on Saturday and Sunday. In the evening on Saturday night an awards function will be held where finger food will be provided and drinks will be at bar prices. All other meal times other that the ones previously mentioned will be up to the league or individual to purchase. Squad/Team Numbers All leagues will be asked to provide a list of 30 players two weeks prior to the commencement of the Championships. This list will be used for Football Record. A final squad of 24 players will need to be named prior to the team taking the field for the first game. This squad will be unable to be changed once the team has commenced playing it’s first game. All squad members are able to participate with 18 on the field and 6 on the bench. Umpires All leagues are asked to provide one accredited field umpire in their party of 30 people attending the weekend. Goal Umpires and Boundary will be organised by the Riverina and Farrer Leagues. Function On Saturday 7 th June, commencing at 6:30pm a function will be held at the Rules Club which is located next door to Maher Oval(see map). Awards will be presented at this function and finger food will be provided. It is anticipated that all players and coaching staff are to be in attendance.
