3i) Matters Arising

New lease for the practice at Ingol Health Centre Ben Wallace, MP for Wyre and North, cancelled his visit 1½ hrs before the meeting was to take place at the Practice on 13th July 18 to discuss the problems there are in obtaining a suitable lease. The lease being offered by the “landlords” is not commercially viable as they are insisting on a 25 year term without periodic “breaks” being available. Important that the Practice can develop further rooms in Ingol HC to accommodate the extra population in the area as a result of the housing development taking place locally. It is understood that at present there are no proposals to build new Health Centre accommodation. CCG needs to become involved, as do Preston Council who are holding ½ million pounds paid by the developers for infrastructure. Presently there is no lease with rent paid for the accommodation used. It has been suggested that local politicians should be appraised of the situation. New ward boundaries are likely to be in place shortly; those covered by what seems to be Ingol HC catchment area are 1)Southern end of (OOWP), 2)Ingol & Cottam (J & JB) 3)North Eastern side of Cadley (H & JA). Problems continue.

3ii) Speakers from outside organisations etc. Suggestions - Local Pharmacist - Practice Staff - Members of CCG (Including patient representatives) - CCG staff - Care Hospital Trust departments - NAPP representatives - Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff - Healthwatch - Care Quality Commission

3iii) Dates for next PPG meetings Venue: Ingol Health Centre; Thursday, 18th October 2018 at 13:30 Thursday, 29th November 2018 at 13:30

3iv) Pharmacies Government considers in some areas there is an over-supply of Pharmacies. Where this is the case then not all pharmacies will be supported. Smaller pharmacies & rural pharmacies are most threatened where Government subsidies are being cut. Electronic prescribing & purchases over the internet have had an effect..

3v) Enhanced Care Home Scheme MW Briefly repeated the details of the scheme. TM asked if being part of the scheme put pressure on the Practice? MW said he felt not as the Doctors were already visiting.

3vi) Hospitals TM Big changes in Chorley Hospital. Planning to increase critical Care beds at Preston Hospital. MW Changes between Preston & Chorley; Hospital keen to stress that it is not a “done deal”.

3vii) National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP) CCG is willing to fund the Practice’s 1st year of membership of NAPP. NAPP is the national voice for patient participation in primary care, established in 1978 to support GPs and practice teams. Now NAPP also supports Clinical Commissioning Groups. Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) are intended to work in partnership with their practices to: - help patients to take more responsibility for their health - contribute to the continuous improvement of services and quality of care - foster improved communication between the practice and its patient - provide practical support for the practice and help to implement change NAPP says “Good GP practices tend to have good patient participation groups (PPGs). Together, they have a shared understanding of: - the role of the PPG - how it works - how patient participation supports practice development - can improve patient care.” Generally agreed that PPG members were in favour of giving membership a try. Partially completed Application Form handed to Mike for completion by the Practice & sending to the CCG.

3viii) Flu Vaccinations MW The Practice buys in the vaccines from the manufacturers on a sale & return basis. The Practice has undertaken this for 4 years and has a good understanding of requirements. If there are any adverse reactions then Adrenaline is available on the site. Practice web site says “Flu vaccinations. We have put on all Saturday clinics at Ingol Health Centre, where there is ample parking, as follows; Date Under 65's appointments Over 65's appointment Sat 29/09/18 180 appointments 122 appointments
