Corona presents Thredbo Village Concert Series Featuring headliners The Preatures, Gang of Youths, The Rubens and Alpine
A far cry from the beaches of Mexico, Corona has partnered with Thredbo to bring snow-goers and music-lovers series of free concerts boasting killer performances from some of Australia’s top acts. Throughout the season, big-name acts including The Preatures, Gang of Youths, The Rubens and Alpine will all take to the stage for headline sets this winter.
The Thredbo Village Concert Series will kick off on Saturday 6th June, as part of the region’s opening weekend celebrations. Warming up the crown from 6:30pm, Sydney rockers Red Wine Roses will officially launch Thredbo’s winter celebrations. Then, providing crowds with an exhilarating combination of rock and soul, The Preatures will follow as the first headlining act for the series. After rising to fame with their single ‘Is This How You Feel?’, The Preatures have proven they are one of the country’s hottest acts and will be a welcome addition to the stages of Thredbo.
The second show in the series will be headlined by Gang of Youths on Saturday 18th July. Returning from explosive shows on their recent Australian tour, Gang of Youths bring to the stage a set filled with man-buns, beards and indie rock. Boasting a sold out national tour and a top-five debut on the ARIA charts with their album ‘The Positions’, Gang of Youths have received glowing reviews from respected music publications such as Rolling Stone, RIP IT UP and Tone Deaf, positioning themselves as one to watch in the Australian music scene.
On Saturday 15th August, The Rubens will make the trip down from Sydney to enthral crowds with their new album ‘Hoops’, which will have just dropped on 7th August. From the soulful slow rock ballad ‘Lay it Down’ to their recent powerful track ‘Hallelujah', the five-piece from Menangle will be providing music-lovers with epic rock anthems and hooks that will stay with them for days.
For the final act of the 2015 Thredbo Village Concert Series, presented by Corona, the aptly named quintet Alpine will take to the stage on 12th September to deliver an energetic indie pop set. The ARIA award winners are one of Australia’s biggest music exports, having toured with the likes of Empire of The Sun and Foals, and performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Each concert of the series will take place in the Thredbo Village Square under the alpine sky. Thredbo is proud to announce all events are all-ages and completely free of charge.
