The 1st Asian Traditional Wushu Championships Competition Regulations A. DATE AND PLACE The 1st AKFC will be held from November 28 to 30, 2018 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. B. HOSTED BY Wushu Federation of Asia C. ORGANIZED BY Chinese Wushu Association, General Administration of Sports of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Municipal Government D. CO-ORGANIZED BY Jiangsu Provincial Wushu Association, Nanjing Agricultural University E. OPERATED BY Jiangsu Z’sin Culture Communication F. PARTICIPANTS (1) All WFA Member Associations are qualified to participate in the Championships. (2) The Wushu groups that have been recognized by their national or regional WFA Member Associations may be permitted to participate in the Championships. (3) Participants from countries or regions which do not have a WFA recognized member federation. G. COMPETITION EVENTS (1) Individual Events: 1. Traditional Bare Hand Routine Taijiquan Type Events: Chen Style, Yang Style, Wu Style, 42 Posture Taijiquan (please specify the name of the routine in the application). Compulsory Routines of Chen Style, Yang Style, and Wu Style. 1 Updated by August 31, 2018 Nanquan Type Events: Wing Chun Kune (Yongchun Quan), Ngo Cho Kune (Wuzu Quan), Hung Gar Kune (Hongjia Quan), Choy Lay Fut Kune (Cailifo Quan) (please specify the name of the routine in the application). Other Style Events: Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, Baji Quan, Tongbei Quan, Pigua Quan, Tanglang Quan (Mantis Quan), Imitation Styles, Cha Quan, Shaolin Quan (please specify the name of the routine in the application). 2. Traditional Weapon Routine Single Weapon Routines: Dao (Broadsword), Qiang (Spear), Jian (Straight Sword), Gun (Cudgel/Staff), Pudao, Fan, Fork, Taiji Jian (including 42 Posture Taiji Jian), Taiji Dao, Taiji Qiang, Nan Dao (Southern Broadsword), Nan Gun (Southern Staff/Cudgel) (please specify the name of the routine in the application). Double Weapon Routines: Shuang Dao (Double Broadsword), Shuang Jian (Double Straight Sword, including Double Long Tassel Straight Sword), Shuang Bian (Double Whip, including Broadsword and whip), Shuang Gou (Double Hooks) (please specify the name of the routine in the application). Flexible / Soft Weapon Routines: Jiu Jie Bian (Nine Section Whip Chain), San Jie Gun (Three Section Staff), Meteor Hammer, Rope Dart (please specify the name of the routine in the application). QUALIFICATIONS (1) All WFA Member including Interim Member Associations are qualified to participate in the Championships. (2) WFA Member Associations who have paid their 2017 and 2018 membership fees will be permitted to participate in the Championships. (3) New members may be invited to take part in the Championships after their applications have been approved by the WFA. (4) Non WFA wushu organizations are required to submit their applications through WFA member association in their nation/region. (5) Participants from countries or regions which do not have a WFA recognized member association may be permitted to participate subject to the approval of WFA. I. PARTICIPATION METHODS (1) Each country or region may enter one team. (2) Each team may enter: One (1) head of delegation, one (1) team leader, one (1) coach, one (1) team doctor, the number of athletes permitted is not limited. (3) Each team can enter three (3) athletes at most in one (1) individual bare hand routine. (4) Each athlete may, at most, register to participate in: One (1) individual bare hand routine, one (1) individual weapon routine, one (1) Duilian, one (1) Group Routine Events (5) Each team may at most register one (1) Duilian (choreographed sparring) routine, comprising of at most three people (male and female athletes may be mixed). (6) Each team may at most register one (1) group routine. Teams will be divided according to their age groups. The genders of the athletes within this group are not limited. Each group may not comprise of less than six (6) performers. (7) Each competitor should bring along with them a valid Health Certificate issued within 30 days prior to the start of the competition signed by a qualified doctor and a Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificate. All competitors are required to submit a completed and signed waiver of liabilities form with final registration. COMPETITION METHODS (1) The competition includes individual and group competition events. (2) The competition rules applied will conform to the latest “Rules for Traditional Wushu Taolu Competition” issued by the Chinese Wushu Association. (3) Event Time Limits 1. Traditional bare hand routines and weapon routines may not exceed two (2) minutes in total (this excludes Taijiquan type events). 2. Taijiquan routines may not exceed four (4) minutes in total. During a performance, the head judge will signal the 3rd minute mark by blowing a whistle. 3. Taiji weapon routines may not exceed three (3) minutes in total. During a performance, the head judge will signal the 2nd minute mark by blowing a whistle. 4. Duilian routine duration may not be shorter than forty (40) seconds in total. 5. For compulsory Taijiquan and compulsory Taiji weapon routines, there will be no point deductions for the omission of set techniques. 6. Group routine performances may not exceed four (4) minutes in total. Accompanying music is required for group routines, which must be provided by the performers themselves on CD. Accompanying music shall not include vocals of any form. Should accompanying music include vocals, or should no accompanying music be provided, the head judge will deduct 0.1 points. It is the responsibility of the team leader or coach to play the accompanying music for the athletes’ performance. (4) Age Group of Individual Events Group A (Junior): from 12 to 17 years of age (born between January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2006). Group B (Youth): from 18 to 39 years of age (born between January 1, 1979 to December 31, 2000). Group C (Middle aged): from 40 to 59 years of age (born between January 1, 1959 to December 31, 1978). (5) Regulations on number of entry in individual events is less than six (6) people 4 Updated by August 31, 2018 For individual events, when the number entries is less than six (6) people, the competition will be conducted after the merger of events within age groups. K. PLACING & AWARDS (1) The top 8 athletes in each individual event within each age group (for men and women) will be awarded. The top 3 players will be awarded with medals and certificates and the players ranking from 4th to 8th will be awarded with certificates only. The others will receive a certificate to credit their participation. (2) For individual events, within each age group, for men and women, in which the total number of registered participants is eight (8) people or less, the top six (6) athletes will be awarded. Top 3 players will be awarded with medals and certificates, 4th to 6th will be awarded with certificates only, and others will be awarded with certificates to credit their participation. Competitions conducted after the merge of events within age group, top 3 players will be awarded with medals and certificates, 4th to 6th will be awarded with certificates only, and others will be awarded with certificates to credit their participation. (3) Duilian events will be separated into Bare hand vs. Bare hand, Weapon vs. Weapon and Bare hand vs. Weapon Routine. The top 3 athletes will be awarded with medals and certificates; the players ranking from 4th to 8th will be awarded with certificates; the other players will receive participation certificates. (4) Group routines will be divided into the junior group (Group A), the youth group (Group B) and the middle aged group (Group C). Within either group, for men and women, the participants will be separated into bare hand routines and weapon routines (group routines mixing bare hand and weapons will be categorized as weapon routines) and will be awarded as follows: 1st Category Prize = 10% of the participants will be awarded. 2nd Category prize = 20% of the participants will be awarded. 3rd Category Prize = 30% of the participants will be awarded. The others will receive a certificate to credit their participation 5 Updated by August 31, 2018 L. ENTRIES (1) Final Entry: The deadline for the Preliminary Entry is 24:00 (Beijing time) on September 29th 2018. All teams need to submit the “Preliminary Entry Form” and “Registration Form” to [email protected] and [email protected]. After the Preliminary Entry, WFA will eliminate events with few competitors according to the application condition. The 2nd Entry should be done through online registration system and the deadline is 24:00 (Bejijing time) on October 31st 2018. All sections of the online entry must be completed in full, including the uploading of the fully completed and signed waiver of liabilities for each participant. Each team is required to print a copy of the submitted entry and present it upon arrival and registration in Nanjing. Those teams/ participants from countries/regions which do not have WFA member federations/associations must contact the WFA for registration. The above deadline and stipulations apply to such teams as well.
