Biographies 20 PRA GUE Libor Bouček, Moderator [email protected]

Libor Bouček was born on 2nd December 1980. He is a renowned host and producer of Czech TV and Radio.

His present preoccupation is with the leading radio station EVROPA 2 and the television market leader in the , TV NOVA, as host, moderator, producer, scriptwriter and content supervisor.

He graduated in 2003 from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and his list of activities before and after graduation is impressive. It includes his engagement with the 2000 DC World Tour of David Copperfield, hosting the welcome show for the Czech Olympic Team in Prague or the Brit Awards for the Czech radios in 2002, 2003, 2009 and 2010. A true cosmopolite who is fluent in Czech, English, German, Libor Bouček has brought licensed world’s leading TV formats (e.g. , The Voice) to the Czech Republic, has interviewed international stars like Robbie Williams, Seal, Cher, Harrison Ford, Reinhold Messner, Tokio Hotel or Scorpions, and has hosted ceremonies of international events such as UEFA EURO 2008 in Basel, Switzerland, Davis Cup and Fed Cup matches and was the official speaker of the Champions League matches in the season 2007/2008.

Kateřina Bardonová, Speaker [email protected]

Kateřina Bardonová, M. A. (born 21 July 1984) studied law at Charles University in Prague. She takes her final exams in September 2012 and is expected to come to the congress as successful university graduate.

In 2008 she got her MA in European Studies and International Relations from Cardiff University; before she studied International Relations and Diplomacy at University College of International and Public Relations in Prague.

She has held various positions with law firms and companies in the Czech Republic and abroad, among those also an insurer in the UK. Truly devoted to international affairs, Kateřina Bardonová has been repeatedly member of the teams for the organisation of the annual Economic Forum OSCE and has assisted the head managers of the annual International Conferences ICT Forum at several occasions. She is interested in literature, history, travelling and classic music.

Brad Askew is Managing Director of Everything Legal which is part of DAS UK Group in Bristol.

He is a lawyer entrepreneur and innovator. His vision has been Access to Justice for the masses through innovation and technology.

As lawyer solicitor and innovator his focus has been on implementing legal websites, optimising search engine, and improving claims management.

Brad Askew is a leader in digital media for the legal profession and his flagship website www.lawontheweb.co.uk is one of the UK‘s most prominent legal websites. 12

Koen Druyts is partner of Swaegers Verzekeringen NV and an Independent Insurance Broker Entrepreneur.

He holds a Master’s degree in chemical civil engineering and the Bachelor degree mandatory to gain access to the profession of insurance broker in . Mr. Druyts holds several certificates from different post-graduate, in depth trainings on various insurance fields. He started his career as a Manage- ment Trainee at Generale Bank (currently known as BNP Paribas Fortis) but quickly changed to Swaegers Verzekeringen where he became Member of the Board in 2000, and holds 50% of the company since 2005.

Mr. Druyts’ company is a regional insurance broker, active mostly in the Flemish region of Belgium, with minor activities in the French speaking part as well as Luxemburg, the , the UK and ; it is active in Personal, Commercial and Corporate insurance, with a specific focus on SMEs. Swaegers Ver- zekeringen offers a wide range of insurance services to its clients, strives to service the entire insurance portfolio of its clients and aims to maintain long term relationships with its clients.

Hervé Jubeau, Panelist [email protected]

Hervé Jubeau (55) has been managing the company APJ (Assurance Protection Juridique) of the GMF and MAAF group since 2009. He is a legal expert in the area of consumer and construction law, started his career in the area of fire-accident insurance and different risks and with claims handling.

In the area of network organization he has been heading for GMF the regions Rhône-Alpes and Paris Ile de France. Hervé Jubeau is also Vice-President of the GSPJ, the French section of the Internatio- nal Association of Legal Protection Insurance (RIAD).

Petr Kausta, LL.M., Speaker and Panelist [email protected]

Petr Kausta, LL.M. (born 1 May 1967 in Prague) has been practicing as a lawyer in Ostrava since 1999. Specialised in criminal, corporate, civil, labour, family and offence law, he considers his profession as a service to people who are in need of legal help and he puts human destiny, character and emotion first.

While Petr Kausta supports the traditional values of the legal profession and characterizes himself as a conservative person in some views and attitudes, he is progressive in other areas and has a particular liking for modern technology. His fondness of modern technology in combination with his distinctive organisational and managerial skills has driven him to invent the paperless law office; his research, visions and innovations have taken the lawyer’s office into the 21st century. 12

Jan Luwes is CEO of Legal Expenses Group Africa and also CEO of Legal Expenses Insurance Southern Africa Limited (LegalWise).

He is a chartered accountant with a difference; he carries the ultimate responsibility for Group growth whilst also nurturing the evolution of legal protection insurance in Africa. He is a people person in addition to being a strategic numbers man. In his spare time Jan Luwes rounds off his life as a keen cyclist, runner and hunter.

Grace Mortimer, Speaker [email protected]

Grace Mortimer is an undergraduate, studying law at Cardiff University. She has been interested in the legal profession for several years having done three months work experience with law firms in Bristol and Cambridge.

She has participated in two Model United Nations conferences, and at one of these events, she was given the role of political appointee for Libya. She is a keen horsewoman and pianist.

Bob Screen, Speaker [email protected]

New to legal protection in 2012, Bob Screen has specialised in general insurance marketing over a 30 year career. Involved in a number of start-up operations, Bob Screen has contributed to the success of both direct to consumer and intermediated businesses.

As well as running his own broking, marketing and consultancy firms, Bob Screen has worked at senior level in a number of insurance businesses including Aviva and RSA in the UK. Legal protection insurance and the changes in the legal services market creates an exciting new opportunity, which has lead to Bob Screen joining DAS UK as Head of Marketing. 12

Richard Susskind, Speaker and Panelist [email protected]

Professor Richard Susskind OBE is IT Adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England, President of the Society for Computers and Law, and Chairman of the Advisory Board at the Oxford Internet Institute.

He holds professorships at Oxford University, UCL, Strathclyde University, and Gresham College. He is a regular columnist at The Times in England, and the author of numerous books on law and technolo- gy, including The End of Lawyers? (2008) and The Future of Law (1996). His work has been translated into 10 languages, and he has been invited to speak in over 40 countries.

Professor Susskind has a doctorate in computers and law from Balliol College, Oxford. He advises some of the world’s largest law firms and corporate legal departments, as well as national govern- ments. In 2000, he was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen for his work on IT in the administ- ration of justice.

György Szabo, Panelist [email protected]

György Szabo got his first master’s degree from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), his economist’s diploma at Corvinus University of Budapest and qualified as an actuary. He started his career as a teacher in the UK, moved on to insurance and, in 2002, after 6 years of experience in the insurance field, he gave up the sales director chair at AB-AEGON to found D.A.S. Jogvédelmi Biztosító Zrt. (D.A.S. Legal Protection Insurance Plc.) in Hungary.

As Chief Executive Officer of D.A.S. he has reached outstanding international success as Europe‘s market leader legal protection specialist which owns the AEGON Insurance Company’s Professional Standards Award and won the title of Hungary’s fastest registered insurer. He supports the mother company in many central-east countries as a consultant. His aim is to make D.A.S. an unavoidable factor in the field of legal protection with its modern, unique and customer focused legal constructions and continuous rejuvenation.

Bas M. van Harten, Panelist [email protected]

Bas M. van Harten (born 1966 in Ede, Netherlands) started in April 2008 as Deputy Managing Director with DAS in Amsterdam and since September 2011 he is in charge as Chief Legal Operations Director responsible for all case handling within DAS Netherlands. In his position Bas is accountable for the company’s regional claims handling departments and manages a staff of 425 people (mainly internal lawyers).

Before he joined DAS management he worked 16 years for a large Dutch bank where he held various management functions in the field of Business Banking, Life Insurance and Mortgages. Bas van Har- ten studied Agricultural Economics at the Agricultural University Wageningen, graduated in January 1991, obtaining a MSc (Master of Science) title.
