Due to a large hedgerow lining the adjacent road only blade tip would be seen as illustrated by Photomontage Viewpoint V10 with a Minor Minor and Moderate 18 Corsley 1.05 – 1.15 Bladetip impact. The church would have filtered views. Manor Farm would have filtered views of the blade tip from rear High Negligible and Slight upper-story windows due to a small woodland at the back of the estate with - a Negligible impact for both. The church and Manor Farm are Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings.

Four properties with direct views to the turbine over the distant woodland. Views filtered by scattered trees within fields and field boundaries, as well as small groups of trees. The trees forming Black Dog Wood would 24 Berkley 3.10 – 3.19 Nacelle High Minor Slight help to blend the turbine into the landscape. A precautionary Minor impact has been given. Buildings are Grade II listed with one Grade II*. Seven properties in Standerwick would have views of the turbine over Black Dog Wood. Four would have direct views from the front of the house, three from upper - floors only and one from both upper and lower floors with Minor impacts due to the distance. C1.2: HERITAGE & LANDSCAPE FEATURES within 5km Listed Buildings Where Listed Buildings are within the ZTV and 2.5km they have been noted above and are not repeated here. Cley Hill Scheduled Includes hill forts, barrows, medieval strip lynchets and cross dyke. Very expansive views north towards the Moderate/ H1 Monument (SM) 2.38 – 2.90 Tower turbine location. The proposal would be a very noticeable feature in the immediate view with a Moderate High Moderate Large & National Trust impact. See Photomontage Viewpoint V7. (NT)

Medieval At a distance of (4-5km) the turbine would be barely noticeable and so have Negligible impact. The H2 4.36 – 4.81 Nacelle High Negligible Neutral settlement SM. surrounding landscape is wooded with views filtered by trees.

Situated high on Arn Hill Down, there are extensive views to the surrounding landscape as shown in Colloway Photomontage Viewpoint V20. The barrow is surrounded by trees, with further vegetation in the direction of the Neutral/ H6 Clump Long 3.35 – 6.38 Tower High Minor turbine on the side of the hill. Views would be filtered, but there would still be glimpses of the turbine with a Slight Barrow SM Minor impact.

Longleat The Park is heavily wooded with no views available towards the proposed turbine for the majority of the area. H7 Registered Park 3.35 – 6.38 Tower However there are long distance views at the entrance, as shown by Photomontage Viewpoint V8. The overall High Negligible Neutral and Garden impact on Longleat Park and its setting would be Negligible.

C1.3: PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY and LONG DISTANCE ROUTES The turbine would be clearly visible from the track and the focal point in the landscape, with views Very Large, occasionally and slightly filtered by field boundary vegetation. The route is not well used and views from the Major and Large and a Footpath 0.04 – 1.57 Tower High footpath include Cley Hill and Black Dog Wood. Photomontage Viewpoint V1 illustrates the view from this Moderate Moderate/ location. Large

From the north the bridleway starts off in a hollow, with limited views out towards the turbine. Users of the bridleway however would be aware of the turbine due to its close proximity. The bridleway then passes Large, Major, between deep hedge banks with no or limited views until south of Dye House Farm where the turbine would Moderate/ Moderate, b Bridleway 4.78 – 1.70 Tower be in full view. See Photomontage Viewpoint V11. High Large, Minor and Slight and No change Long distance, picturesque views include Cley Hill with the turbine the focal point in the landscape. The open Neutral views remain until Cley Hill Farm where they would be slightly filtered by field boundary vegetation.

From its junction with bridleway B, intermittent vegetation filters views of the turbine from bridleway C but it Large, Tower/ Major, would still be prominent within the landscape. It would remain visible up to Clear Wood when the bridleway Moderate/ c Bridleway 0.54 – 1.71 nacelle/ High Moderate goes into a hollow with limited views out. Towards Norridge Farm, the turbine would be seen at blade tip or Large and Blade tip and Minor nacelle over the woodland. Slight

Views all along this footpath are intermittent, filtered by intervening roadside vegetation or blocked by d Footpath 1.20 – 1.42 Tower woodland. The turbine would still be a noticeable feature within the landscape when seen. See Photomontage High Moderate Moderate Viewpoint V2 for view from the start of the footpath.

The footpath and Mid Wilts Way is well used. There are views to the whole area due to the very open Tower/ Footpath and landscape seen in Photomontage Viewpoint V3. Clear Wood is seen to the left of the turbine. As the Mid Wilts Moderate e 1.81 – 2.62 nacelle/ High Moderate National Trail Way turns south, the turbine would move behind the woodland but would still be visible above, the trees at and Minor blade tip blade tip, reducing the impact. The railway is hidden within a cutting causing no screening in views.

No views as the road dips and enters woodland. Chapmanslade – Warminster: the turbine would initially be clearly seen in views for example Photomontage Viewpoint V21, followed by a section where the turbine would be seen to nacelle above Clear Wood and blocked by Norridge Farm.

Chapmanslade – A36 junction: No views out from within the road through Chapmanslade due to residential housing. Along the High Street, from Chapmanslade to the junction of the A36 there are clear open views over the hedge with the turbine the focal point as shown by Photomontage Viewpoint V1. Major, Slight/ Tower/ Moderate, A3098 0.66 – 2.94 Low Moderate nacelle A36 Junction – Westbury: Within the parkland of Chalcot house views are filtered by trees, shown in Minor and and Neutral Photomontage Viewpoint V2, the turbine would be noticeable in views. The view from the western edge of Upton Scudamore, on the Mid Wilts Way National Trail, and representative of views from adjacent properties. There are clear views of the turbine, seen to half tower, becoming the Upton main focus in this open, simple landscape of agricultural fields and woodland. The surrounding woodland V3 2.63 Tower High Moderate Moderate Scudamore gives the turbine scale, but it stands above the adjacent tree line and more distant ridgelines. The flat landscape gives views from the Mid Wilts Way out to the whole area, the railway in the view being hidden within a cutting. Located on a footpath and hillside above Westbury, the view is taken through a gap in a large hedge which screens most views from the footpath. The turbine is a distant but noticeable feature in the landscape, Footpath above situated behind a wooded ridgeline. It is in-scale with other elements, but breaks the skyline and is the highest V4 5.20 Tower High Moderate Moderate Westbury point in the view. The landscape is mainly agricultural, and partly accommodates the proposal as it is already affected by Westbury and associated development. Westbury White Horse takes the focus of the view in some places, however it is never seen alongside the proposed turbine. Within 5km of the turbine location, the photomontage viewpoint location is along the Mid Wilts Way National Trail on Upton Cow Down. There are 1800 panoramic views of the Longleat Greensand Hills within the AONB, Upton Cow Salisbury Plain, Cley Hill and distant further distant hills. The turbine is noticeable due to being elevated and as V5 Down/Mid Wilts 4.09 Tower the blade tip can be seen against the skyline. An existing single turbine can be seen to the left of the High Moderate Moderate Way proposed Thoulstone turbine, above woodland in the distance. There are many features within the landscape, such as farms, roads and industrial units to the left of the view, preventing the proposed turbine from being the main focus within the landscape. On the Mid Wilts Way National Trail, representative of views from properties within Bugley and east Warminster. Bugley, Neutral/ V6 3.21 Nacelle Tree screening along A36 and bypass shows the nacelle visible above the treeline. The turbine is in scale with High Minor Warminster Slight the surrounding trees which help blend it into the landscape. This view is located on the top of Cley Hill, which is an SM and National Trust land, a very well used and visited location with long distance views over the area. The main direction of views is north, towards the turbine location and it would be noticeable to the front of the attractive panorama, but well below the skyline. The Moderate/ V7 Cley Hill 2.55 Tower turbine would be seen at full height. The view is of a settled landscape, with Cley Hill Farm in the foreground, High Moderate Large and Chapmanslade in the middle ground. The turbine is in scale with the wider landscape and the pattern of fields and woodland. It is of lesser scale than the foreground farm buildings. Westbury can also be seen in the wider view. Longleat Safari The photomontage is taken on the grass next to the National Cycle Route no. 22 at the entrance of Longleat Moderate/ V8 3.59 Tower High Moderate Park Park. The turbine is noticeable as it extends above the wooded horizon. Large

Located on a National Cycle route no. 22, just within 5km of the proposed turbine. The turbine is noticeable on the skyline in this wide long distance view over the landscape and is in scale with its surroundings. There V12 Rudge 4.81 Nacelle High Moderate Moderate are many pylons, telegraph poles and clusters of farms within the view. The turbine is seen in front of Cley Hill, impacting on views towards the AONB.

The photomontage location is within a much wooded area on the edge of Bath. At this distance the turbine is V13 Bath 16.55 Tower High Negligible Slight a barely noticeable feature. Cotswolds AONB Located on a footpath above Wellow, the turbine is barely noticeable on the horizon, in-scale with other V14 15.06 Tower High Negligible Slight near Wellow distant features, such as the surrounding trees and farms.

Located on a very well used footpath within the beautiful setting of Orchardleigh Park, (Registered Park and The Down within Garden). Due to the parkland landscape, with many mature trees and patches of small woodland, there are V15 Orchardleigh 7.08 Nacelle only intermittent views of the turbine. It can be seen breaking the skyline above a wooded ridgeline, within an High Negligible Slight Park attractive view towards the AONB and Cley Hill. The turbine would be a small feature in the distance, with Negligible impact.

On a footpath within Summerslade Down. The turbine is very distant with blade tip seen amongst the forest of Summerslade Longleat. Wide open downland, wooded with agricultural fields and long distance views in all directions. The V16 10.62 Nacelle High Negligible Slight Down surrounding trees with the forest help blend in the turbine so it is hard to distinguish in the view, and has a Negligible impact.

Situated along the Wessex Ridgeway National Trail, there are attractive long distance views of Cley Hill and Wessex Ridge V17 13.37 Tower Salisbury plain. The turbine breaks the skyline at nacelle, situated above a wooded ridgeline. It is a minor High Negligible Slight above Corton feature in a huge panorama giving Negligible impact.

The viewpoint is located within a wooded area, there are glimpses out towards the turbine location, which is also filtered by further trees on an intervening ridgeline. Views are from a National Cycle Route no. 25, and Road above V18 7.26 Nacelle minor road, looking over a small picturesque valley, containing the village of Horningsham, to Longleat Park High Minor Slight Horningsham and forest. The trees of Longleat forest help blend the turbine into the surrounding landscape, which gives the turbine scale, causing it to be a barely noticeable feature.

The view is located along a minor road. The turbine is an inconsequential feature appearing above a Road east of V19 8.51 Tower wooded skyline which is seen everywhere in this area, other visual detractors such as telegraph poles and Low Negligible Neutral Trudoxhill distant pylons are also within the view.

The viewpoint is located on the A36 and very close to the turbine which is dominant in the view. The view V21 Thoulstone 0.53 Tower High Major Very Large shows the scale of the turbine in views from properties within Thoulstone described at (8) above, though these are filtered to varying extents by intervening vegetation.
