INVITATION – SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT CONGRESS of Lithuanian Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Thursday, 24 May – Saturday, 26 May, 2018, Kaunas INVITATION – SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT CONGRESS of Lithuanian Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Thursday, 24 May – Saturday, 26 May, 2018, Kaunas Dedicated to 100th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian independence Dear Colleagues and Friends, We are happy to invite our Colleagues and Friends to Congress of Lithuanian Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the event that is dedicated to 100th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian independence. We are happy to celebrate and salute independence of all Baltic States. Our venue this time is Kaunas – the second largest town in the heart of Lithuania. Kaunas has big concentration of medical services and facilities, with the largest in the country School of Medicine, 2500 bed size University Hospital Kaunas Clinics and many well known clinics of Plastic Surgery. Our venue is Congress Center of Hotel Europa Royale Kaunas, one of the newest and modern four star Hotels in Kaunas. The meeting included sessions reviewing the relationship between Health 2020 and the 2030 Agenda; action at regional level within countries to address Health 2020; aspects of health and the environment; recent efforts to transform health care delivery; findings from recent studies on intersectoral collaboration; and the implications at regional level of the recently agreed Strategy on women’s health and well-being in the WHO European Region. The meeting also provided an opportunity for network members to hear about each other’s recent experiences and progress with the agreed programme of publications, and to consider how better to work with other parts of the WHO family, and in particular the Healthy Cities Network. We report a rare case of pneumococcal endocarditis manifesting with unusual complications – meningitis and endophthalmitis. Streptococcus pneumoniae species grew from the cerebrospinal fluid. The diagnosis of native aortic valve infective endocarditis was confirmed after some delay by transesophageal echocardiography. The patient’s eye was lost because of infective complications, but his life was saved following an aggressive antibacterial therapy in combination with an immediate aortic valve replacement. The case originated in an application (no. 41252/12) against the Republic of Lithuania lodged with the Court under Article 34 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (“the Convention”) by a Lithuanian national, Mr Valdas Bagdonavičius (“the applicant”), on 3 July 2012. 2. The applicant was represented by Mr S. Tomas. The Lithuanian Government (“the Government”) were represented by their former Agent, Ms E. Baltutytė. 3. The applicant alleged that that he had been denied adequate medical care during his detention, and that the conditions of his detention had been unsuitable for a person in his state of health. 4. However, there is a lack of data on whether reduced airway eosinophilic inflammation can affect the production of epithelial-derived mediators, such as interleukin-25 (IL-25) and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP). -e aim of this study was to investigate the changes in serum levels of IL-25 and TSLP after a single dose of mepolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody to interleukin-5 (IL-5), in patients with severe non-allergic eosinophilic asthma (SNEA). We examined 9 SNEA patients before and four weeks after administration of 100 mg mepolizumab subcutaneously.
