EUROPEAN INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS’2011

The European Individual Schools Chess Championships’2011 was held on October 11-19, 2011 in Kemer-Antalya, Turkey. The tournament was organized by the European Chess Union and Turkish Chess Federation. It was played according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds with sections – open and girls (U7-U17). The rate of play was 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game + increment 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

WORLD CHESS GAMES FOR DISABLED’2011

The World Chess Games for Disabled will be held on October 24-30, 2011 in Dresden, Germany. The organizer of the first three editions in 2011, 2013 and 2015 is ZMDI Schachfestival Dresden e.V. The competition is an event only for disabled chess players. It is as an open individual tournament with a separate team ranking. Each team consists of four players.

The World Chess Games for Disabled will be played in 7 rounds, according to the Swiss system. Time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment per move, starting from move one.

The winner obtains the title “Champion of World Chess Games for Disabled”. In the three kinds of disablements the winner obtains the title:

In the team competition: “World Team Chess Champion for Disabled”. The prize fund of the tournament is € 3.000.

IM ALVAR ALONSO IS THE ABSOLUTE CHESS CHAMPION OF SPAIN FOR 2011

IM Alvar Alonso is the absolute chess champion of Spain for 2011. With the same result of 7 points, second finished GM Miguel Illescas on tie-break against the winner. Third, on a half point distance, finished IM Olga Alexandrova, who became the best positioned woman in the history of the Absolute Chess Championship of Spain.

The Championship took place on October 15-23, 2011 in Arenal den Castell, Menorca, Spain.

In the tournament took part 53 chess players. Chief-Arbiter was Sagrario Rodriguez Aguilar. The rate of play was 90 minutes for the entire game + 30 seconds increment per move, starting from move one.

GM WON 15TH UNIVE CHESS TOURNAMENT

GM Vladimir Kramnik won the Crown Group of 15th edition of Unive Chess Tournament. The tournament was held on October 16-22, 2011 in Hoogeveen, The Netherlands.

It was 4-player double round robin with the following participants: Vladimir Kramnik, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Anish Giri and Judit Polgar.

The rate of play was 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes to the end of the game + 30 seconds increment per move, starting from move one.

GM ALEXANDER MOROZEVICH WON THE GOVERNOR’S CUP IN SARATOV

GM Alexander Morozevich won the Governor’s Cup in Saratov, Russia with final result of 8.5 points from possible 11. Second finished Evgeny Tomashevsky with 7 points, third – with 6.5 points. The tournament was held on October 07- 20, 2011.
